Seattle University Ranked in Princeton Review’s Best Colleges Guide

Once again, Seattle University was featured in The Princeton Review’s Best Colleges guide. The 25^th edition of the handbook surveyed more than 143,000 students from across the country to determine which schools had the best food, top-notch career services, happy students, and more. Seattle University was ranked #19 for Best Campus Food, and it also made it onto the Best 381 Colleges list, the Best Western list, and the Green Colleges list.

Approximately 15% of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges are profiled in Princeton’s Best Colleges guide each year. It’s one of the Princeton Review’s most popular resources and has been published annually since 1992. The lists include detailed profiles of each college with rating scores and ranking lists of top 20 schools in 62 categories.

The profile for Seattle University in The Best 381 Colleges 2017 cited the University’s impressive academic offerings alongside its Jesuit philosophy. From the survey of students, Seattle University was given high marks for core classes and professors. Some student comments claimed that Seattle University has, “dynamic professors who ensure that students have a chance not only to digest and memorize the information but also to critically think about it and discuss different viewpoints.” There were also comments made about the University’s commitment to social justice issues.

Beyond that, the University was praised for making students feel welcome and providing a community in the midst of a large city where students can discuss and have deep, meaningful conversations. According to the Seattle University press release, “They also report that peers are ‘creative, insightful and dedicated to making their educational experience unique and personal. Community is strongly felt amongst students and staff.’”

One example that was specifically pointed out was Seattle University’s Youth Initiative, a large community engagement project. In fact, the compelling initiative is one of the top reasons many students say they chose SU.
