Seton Hall Stillman to Host Business Ethics Seminar

Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business has announced that it will host its first Business Ethics Seminar this month. The Business Ethics Seminar will become an annual series at Stillman. The seminar is called “Maintaining Value-Driven Relationships in an Age of Technology”, and it will feature the former CEO of Knight Capital Group, Tom Joyce, as the main speaker. The event is sponsored by Investors Bank and and the Stillman School of Business’ Micah Center for Business Ethics.

During his speech, Joyce will talk about how he dealt with a crisis at Knight Capital Group in 2012 when a computer glitch cost the company hundreds of millions of dollars. He will also discuss what he learned as CEO of a company, and how he made leadership decisions.

Joyce was CEO of Knight Capital Group from 2002 to his retirement in 2013. Before working for Knight Capital, he held several leadership roles at Merrill Lynch. He is also on the Boards of the Ronald McDonald House of NYC, the Alfred E. Smith Foundation, and the Connecticut Special Olympics. He is a graduate of Harvard College, where he received an AB in Economics.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday, November 12 from 8-10am. The talk will be located in the Chancellor’s Suite, which is in the lower level of Seton Hall’s University Center. Attendees can bring up to two guests. You can register for this event online on the Business Ethics Seminar event page.
