Carlson School of Management – University of Minnesota

History

Nearly 70 years after the founding of the University of Minnesota, one of the largest public Ivy institutions in the United States, the school formally opened its own business school 1919, which was accredited by the AACSB a year later. In 1937, the school offered its first full-time MBA program, and then, in 1960, debuted its part-time MBA program.

Several years after introducing its first EMBA program, the school was rewarded a $25 million donation from Minneapolis entrepreneur Curtis L. Carlson, founder of the Carlson company, one of the world’s largest travel corporations. The school was renamed as the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management, in his honor, in 1986.
