Gabelli Students Tour Gilt Groupe
Tomorrow, students at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business will have the opportunity to tour the Gilt Groupe’s Manhattan office. The Gabelli students will also have the opportunity to meet Gilt’s staff, and hear speeches from Gilt executives.
The Gilt Groupe offers sales on high-end fashion merchandise at their website www.gilt.com. The website offers “flash sales” or short, unpredictable sales of luxury brands that change every few days. The company is also branching into travel and city-based experiences. Consumers sign up to be members of Gilt so that they can have access to the deals offered on the website. Other companies have adapted Gilt’s sales strategy, and the company has had a large impact on electronic commerce.
During their visit to Gilt Groupe, students will have the chance to hear from Gilt CEO Michelle Peluso, Chief Marketing Officer Elizabeth Frances, and Vice President of Project Management Dominique Essig. A van will take students from Fordham Gabelli’s Rose Hill campus to the Gilt Groupe Manhattan offices. The event is free for students, but registration is limited. The school says that students with an interest in digital marketing and e-commerce will particularly benefit from the event.
A few months ago, Gabelli held a similar event, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, where students had the opportunity to hear from executives at the luxury jewelry company Tiffany & Co. The Breakfast at Tiffany’s event is an annual occurance, since James Fernandez, the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Tiffany & Co. is an alumnus of the Gabelli School of Business.
