Sawyer Business School – Suffolk University

History

The Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International in business, accounting and taxation. Suffolk University was established in 1906. The Business School opened its doors in 1937 and began offering the MBA degree in 1948. Suffolk founded its Executive MBA program in 1975 and its Online MBA program in 1999. The school’s Master of Public Administration program is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), making Sawyer Business School the only Boston-based business school to have dual accreditation from AACSB International and NASPAA.

The Sawyer Business School is named after Frank Sawyer, a Suffolk University donor and Boston-area entrepreneur.

Location(s)

The MBA courses are taught at Suffolk’s main campus in downtown Boston, on the North Campus or online. North Campus is located approximately 30 miles northwest of Boston in Lawrence, MA. Suffolk’s downtown campus is a short walk from Boston’s financial, government and healthcare districts and the North Campus is conveniently located off of I-495 at the Riverwalk.

The business school is located just around 10 minutes away from Logan International Airport.

Facilities

Suffolk’s main campus consists of nine buildings located on Beacon Hill and in downtown Boston. Most of the Business School courses are offered in the Frank Sawyer Building. The 12-story building was completed in 1914 and became the home of the Business School in 1981. The Office of the Dean is located at 73 Tremont Street in the Stahl building.

Faculty

The Sawyer Business School employs more than 100 full-time faculty members who are actively involved in business research and consultation outside of their teaching duties. One-third of Sawyer faculty members hail from outside the United States, affording students access to a diverse staff and numerous international professionals.

Student Body

There are over 3,000 students total enrolled at the Suffolk University Sawyer Business School, with around 300 enrolled in graduate programs.

MBA Degree Offerings

Suffolk offers an MBA program that can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis, as well as an Executive MBA option. There are also several MBA dual degrees available.
