Vancouver Island University MBA Program Structure

The Vancouver Island University Faculty of Graduate Management MBA is a 54-credit, 20 month program, accredited by Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) on the university’s Nanaimo campus. Students may begin the program in September or January.

A dual degree option with the University of Hertfordshire to earn an additional Master of Science in International Management is also available.

Curriculum

The Vancouver Island University MBA program is offered in a 20-month, full-time format which includes a courses in Management, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Research, and Technology and a 4-month internship and an applied business project.

Each semester is divided into 1, 2, or 3 modules. Every semester ends with a 2 week official break. Students complete an internship following the completion of those modules. Working with an industry mentor, students identify a significant organizational problem that will be used to write an Applied Business Project under faculty supervision.

Intakes for the MBA program begin in September and January.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The Vancouver Island University MBA program currently costs $27,466 CAD ($28,461 with added fees and health insurance) for domestic students and $48,000 ($50,000 with added fees and healthy insurance) for international students.

During the pre-MBA semester, semester one, and semester two, the student with the highest GPA in the program earns a $750 CAD scholarship, while the student with the second-highest earns $500 CAD. If a domestic student earns the top award in a given period, then the highest earning international student earns second place. The same is true in reverse.

Admissions

Applicants to the Vancouver Island University MBA program must have an accredited Bachelor’s degree with a minimum ‘B’ average in the final two years, and one year of work experience, in addition to the following:

A completed online application
• Official transcripts
• Letter of introduction
• Current résumé
• Two letters of recommendation
• Proof of English proficiency (if needed)
• An application fee

No GMAT scores are required in order to enroll.
