Eller College of Management – University of Arizona

History

In 1927, fourteen years after the University of Arizona established its first business degrees, the university formally organized the Department of Business, which promptly became the School of Business and Public Administration six years later and then was formally recognized as a college in the early 1940s.

In 1953, the School of Business and Public Administration issued its first MBA degrees, five years after it earned its first AACSB-accreditation. Celebrated University of Arizona alumnus Karl Eller, founder of Combined Communications, former CEO and Chairman of Circle K, and philanthropist, helped established the Karl Eller Graduate School of Management in the late ’80s. Alongside the name change, which officially became the now-titled Eller College of Management in 1999, UA alumni Norman and Frances McClelland awarded the school $2.5 million, helping establish the centerpiece of the business school: McClelland Hall. Since the renaming, the business school has expanded outside of Tuscon, issuing Executive MBA programs in Phoenix, numerous other Master’s degree programs, and micro-campuses in around the world.

Location(s)

The central hub of the Eller College of Management is in the North University neighborhood of the University of Arizona, in Tuscon. The school also offers its Executive MBA program in downtown Phoenix, at the University of Arizona Biomedical campus. Micro-campuses are also located in Cambodia, Peru, and Indonesia.

Facilities

McClelland Hall acts as the centerpiece of the University of Arizona Eller College of Management campus in Tuscon. The 180,000 square-foot building building, completed in 1992, features over 150 classrooms, offices, labs, and centers, as well as an auditorium and atrium.

More than 120 faculty members are employed by the Arizona Eller College of Management.

The University of Arizona Eller College of Management enrolls 5,400 undergraduate students, 1,042 grad students, and 125 Ph.D. students across 25 academic programs.
