Middle Tennessee State University – Jennings A. Jones College of Business
History
MTSU began as Middle Tennessee State Normal School in 1911. The first business courses were offered by the university in 1939, and a separate business department was created in 1946. In 1965, MTSU advanced to university status. MTSU’s Jennings A. Jones College of Business has awarded the M.B.A. since 1969. The College is accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Location(s)
Middle Tennessee State University is located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville. The Jones College of Business is found in the heart of campus.
Facilities
The Business and Aerospace (BAS) building has been home to the Jones College of Business for over 20 years. Along with classrooms and offices, the four-story building features the Financial Analysis Center, State Farm Lecture Hall, John A. “Jack” Spann Risk Management Lab, Mel Adams State Farm Agent Professional Sales Lab, JCB University Computer Lab, Advising Center, SunTrust Room, One Button Studio, Andrew Woodfin Miller Sr. Education Center, and the Center for Executive Education.
Faculty
Nearly 140 faculty members are employed at the Jones College of Business. The faculty consists of award-winning educators, researchers and, in many cases, entrepreneurs who provide students with cutting-edge education in management, marketing, accounting, economics, finance, big data tools, information systems and analytics, and business communication.
Student Body
Over 3,000 undergraduate students and 600 graduate students are enrolled at the Jones College of Business.

The Jones College of Business offers a Flex M.B.A. (optional Health Care Management or Music Business concentrations and the choice to complete courses online, on campus, or both), along with the following on-campus programs: Master of Accounting, M.B.A, M.S. in Data Science, M.S. in Finance, M.S. in Information Systems, and M.S. in Management.
