REGISTER: Social Enterprise Symposium Coming March 7

The 6th Annual Social Enterprise Symposium,Sponsored by the Center for Social Value Creation at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, returns to the University of Maryland on Friday, March 7, 2014.

The Symposium explores the role of business in creating economic prosperity and lasting social and environmental change. From sustainability to social entrepreneurship this unique event connects students with thoughts leaders using the tools of business to change the world. 

This year’s event will feature two keynotes, a series of breakout sessions and workshops, and our first ever Do Good Ventures Showcase. 2014’s Symposium also carries a theme— “Don’t Hold Back.” A prompt to the millennial generation, the event asks what could be accomplished if anything was possible, and we used our unique talents to forge fearlessly forward – without ever holding back?

The Center for Social Value Creation at the Smith School offer hands-on learning opportunities, support ground-breaking research, and collaborate across sectors to help prepare students to be the next generation of great leaders. The Center aims to hone each student’s ability to apply business principles in creative and entrepreneurial ways that co-create economic prosperity and social and environmental well-being.

Comprised of five full-time staff members who collectively account for more than 35 years of experience in the business, social enterprise, startup and sustainability sectors, The Center for Social Value Creation offers consulting opportunities and unique programs, like Social Innovation Fellows and the Social Enterprise Symposium, help Smith students gain exposure to the trends and skills necessary to do business in the 21st century.
