Argyros School of Business – Chapman University

History

Chapman University was founded as Hesperian College in 1861 by members of the Disciples of Christ denomination of the Christian Church. In 1934, it was renamed as Chapman College, in honor of its largest donor up until that point. Chapman College became Chapman University in 1991, and in recent years has taken strategic steps to place itself more prominently in the national spotlight.

Location

The University is located in Orange, California, near Anaheim. Orange is a 30-minute drive from both Los Angeles and Long Beach. Within the city of Orange, which has approximately 138,000 residents, the Chapman campus is located just steps away from the Orange Plaza Historic District.

The university campus is located less than 20 minutes away from the John Wayne Airport and roughly 25 minutes away from the Long Beach Municipal Airport.

Facilities

The Argyros School of Business and Economics, where Chapman holds its undergraduate and graduate business and economics programs, is located in Beckman hall on the main Chapman University Campus. A highlight of Beckman Hall is the Janes Financial Center, a financial resource facility that contains a conference room and computer lab and is equipped with 12 Bloomberg Terminals, a dedicated computer system with access to financial data.

In March of 2016, the university unveiled its elaborate, 88,000 square-foot Musco Center for the Arts. Additionally, Chapman’s 140,000 square-foot Keck Center for Science and Engineering opened in fall 2018.

The Argyros Faculty Directory lists 128 faculty members. The school also maintains several research centers, which provide further educational resources to students.

Chapman has a total of 8,542 graduate and undergraduate students, of which 60 percent identify as female and 40 percent identify as male.
