The Southern Methodist University full-time MBA at the Cox School of Business is a 21-month, 65 credit hour program that provides students the opportunity to focus their learning with a variety of concentration options. Curriculum
The Cox School’s full-time MBA program can be completed in 21 months and requires 65 credit hours to graduate. Each course can be completed in eight weeks so students can easily customize their learning experience. In the first year, students take foundation courses in subjects such as accounting, finance, and marketing. The summer term is used for an internship, and the second year of coursework is when students can focus more on their academic concentrations. To this end, students may choose to specialize in up to two of the following concentrations: accounting; finance; general business; information technology & operations management (ITOM): business analytics; ITOM: supply chain; management; marketing; real estate; or strategy & entrepreneurship. In addition, students must complete the Global Leadership Program, which is a 10-day trip to a region of their choosing. For further international experience, students may apply for the international exchange program to live and study at one of the school’s 12 partner universities in Asia/Pacific Rim, Australia, Europe, or Latin America.
Class Profile
Cox’s Class of 2022 is comprised of 100 students. Their average GMAT score was 650. Students’ average GPA was 3.30, with an average of 4.5 years of work experience. Forty percent of the class are women and 28% identify as underrepresented minorities.
Career Statistics
Ninety-one percent of the SMU Cox Class of 2019 received job offers within three months of graduation and 89% accepted offers. The average base salary was $114,000 and the average signing bonuses landed at $27,000.
Consulting was the most popular industry, as 22% of Cox MBAs joined it. Real estate and financial services each saw 19% of Cox MBA graduates. Twelve percent joined the tech field and six percent each joined energy or consumer goods.
Eighty-one percent of the Class of 2019 settled in the Southwest upon graduation. Six percent headed West and 5% to the Midwest. Four percent headed to the Northeast U.S. and another four percent headed abroad.
Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid for the SMU Cox Full-Time MBA
Southern Methodist University full-time MBA tuition for full-time students is $47,445. The nine-month estimate includes the cost of tuition ($82,227), living expenses, books, and supplies, as well as other program fees, health insurance, and other miscellaneous expenses that students may face during the program.
The Cox Distinguished MBA Scholars Program is the most competitive scholarship program at Cox. This is a highly selective program that awards full-tuition scholarships each year to five MBA candidates.
Southern Methodist University also offers students several options to pay for costs and fees monthly.
The school also provides scholarship awards to more than half of its students, with awards ranging from 10-to-100 percent of tuition and fees. There are also a variety of loan opportunities available for students. Cox participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which provides funding for veterans.

Admissions for the SMU Cox Full-Time MBA
In order to be considered for admission into the SMU Cox Full-Time MBA applicants must complete the following steps for application:
Submit the application forms found in the online application, provide a copy of their professional résumé, complete three essays (topics available online), submit GMAT or GRE scores, provide copies of undergraduate transcripts and provide two professional references (names and contact information only).
International applicants must also provide TOEFL, IELTS, or Pearson Test of English scores (if applicable).
Applicants for the MBA program at the Cox School of Business are required to take the GMAT or GRE, though most take the GMAT. The average GMAT score of students in the program is between 590 and 710. Applicants must also possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. Students are also required to have a minimum of two years of full-time work experience, with most accepted students having between three and five years of experience.
The Cox School does not require applicants to pay an application fee.
