Temple University Part-Time MBA Program Structure
The Temple University part-time MBA at the Fox School of Business is a flexible program that can be completed in as little as two years or over a longer period of time, based on a student’s needs. The curriculum calls for 33 credits of required coursework and 15 credits of electives. The majority of courses are held at Temple’s Center City facilities, near City Hall. The school also recently added part-time classes in Conshohocken, about 25 minutes from Center City Philadelphia. Students have the option to complete courses in a hybrid format, using the same technology from the Fox School of Business’ Online MBA program.
Curriculum
The Temple part-time MBA program numbers 48 credits in total and emphasizes real-world experience and team-based learning, but doesn’t divide students into “cohorts” like the full-time program. Students complete a core curriculum that consists of foundational business and advanced managerial perspectives courses along with the mandatory Management Consulting Capstone. The capstone is an experiential learning opportunity for students to work on a real consulting case, and past clients have included both large and small, profit and nonprofit firms, and those located in the U.S. and abroad.
There are more than ten academic concentrations available to part-time students, including business management, entrepreneurship, information technology management and innovation management. In addition to the required core curriculum, students take five electives.
Class Profile
According to the most recent data, the Temple part-time MBA enrolls roughly 50 students concurrently. An even number of male and female-identifying students enrolled, and they were, on average, 33 years of age. Twenty percent of the class held an advanced degree upon enrollment, and matriculating students averaged nine years of professional work experience. The average GMAT score posted by enrolled students is 620, and the average GPA is 3.3.
Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid
Temple University part-time MBA degree tuition is $1,188 per credit hour for both Pennsylvania residents and out-of-state residents. With a total of 48 credits, tuition for the entire program is $57,024. Temple also charges a per semester fee based on the number of credits a student takes.
Alumni of Temple’s undergraduate programs receive five-percent tuition discount for any of Fox’s MBA programs. Applicants to the part-time program are eligible for merit-based scholarships and do not need to fill out any additional forms or applications to be considered. Awards are based on GMAT score and previous academic achievement. Temple University alumni receive an automatic 5 percent tuition scholarship upon enrollment in the part-time MBA program.
Eligible veterans can receive additional scholarship funding through the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the Yellow Ribbon program.
Admissions to the Temple Part-Time MBA at the Fox School of Business
Applicants to the MBA programs must have completed a four-year degree or its equivalent for admission.
To apply to the Temple University part-time MBA program, applicants must submit a completed application form, all college transcripts from degree-granting and non-degree-granting institutions, a current résumé and two letters of recommendation. The school also requires applicants to complete two essays about their leadership experiences and goals; applicants may submit an optional statement as well. Applicants must also send in their GMAT scores (GRE scores are accepted if the test was taken within the last five years) and a nonrefundable $60 application fee.
The GMAT requirement may be waived if the candidate meets the following qualifications: seven to ten years of professional experience with a minimum 3.0 GPA from undergraduate work; managerial experience that attests to growth; an undergraduate degree from an AACSB-accredited university; or a JD, MD, or Ph.D. Those with greater than ten years of professional experience are exempt from the minimum GPA requirement.
Non-native English speakers are required to send in TOEFL scores, though this requirement may be waived by applicants who have earned degrees from a university located in a country where English is the native language. Admissions interviews are also required but conducted on an invitation-only basis after an application has been submitted.
