Stanford Seed Project Explores Palm Oil Production To Combat Poverty
Stanford Graduate School of Business recently explored a Stanford Seed research project that explores how the expansion of the global palm oil sector could enhance “rural incomes, alleviate poverty and reduce tropical deforestation” and “transform the way that companies and governments operate in the massive palm oil space,” particularly in West Africa and Indonesia.
Stanford Seed Transformation Aims to Accelerate New Economies
Stanford’s Graduate School of Business recently published an article on the impact of its Stanford Seed initiative, which aims to make Stanford “the leading research university for thinking about the challenges of poverty in the developing world” by addressing the physical and infrastructural issues that hamper economic development, as well as “cultural practices and entrenched psychological conditioning.”

Saïd Alumnus Vies to Pitch to Branson
Andrew Hunt, an MBA alumnus of Saïd Business School, has reached the semi-finals in Richard Branson’s “Pitch to Rich” contest, according to a recent press release from the school. Branson, the famous founder of Virgin Group, will choose a start-up company to invest in in order to promote undiscovered talent. Branson will contribute £250,000 to the marketing campaign of the winning start-up. Hunt is the founder of Aduna, a health, beauty and social brand business. Continue reading…

The Center for Social Value Creation at the Robert H. Smith School of Business will be presenting the 7th Social Enterprise Symposium (SES) on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event is held at the Stamp Student Union, University of Maryland and in conjunction with the three-day AshokaU Exchange, which is an international convening on social entrepreneurship in higher education.
