Loyola Marymount MBAs Visit Asia
This summer, 35 MBA students from Loyola Marymount University had the opportunity to spend three weeks in Asia as part of their education, according to a press release from the school. The students, who were accompanied by five faculty members as well, made stops in Seoul, Korea, Beijing and Shanghai, China, and Kyoto and Tokyo Japan as part of the Comparative Management Systems (CMS) Program. London Business School Students Gain Experience in Hong Kong
Ninety-three MBA students from the London Business School recently returned from participating in a Global Business Experience (GBE) in Hong Kong, an opportunity that allowed these students to hone their skills through real-world business experiences in a rapidly developing part of the world. The GBE is considered to be an important part of the MBA program at the London Business School, both by the faculty and the student body. The school commits to taking all second-year MBA students, about 410 this year, on a GBE to developing and emerging regions so they may see how business theory works when applied to real-world situations. Booth School Awaiting Approval of New Facility in Asia
Chicago Booth is excited to be carving out a new outpost in Asia. A project to renovate the historic Mount Davis site, which is in the approval process, would create a University of Chicago center fit to house the Chicago Booth Executive MBA Program in Asia. The site, found within dense urban landscape of Hong Kong, would establish a new intellectual hub in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
First a little history: Mount Davis served as an artillery battery in the 1930s and after World War II was converted to a mess and clubhouse for British officers. It later served as a government detention facility. Continue reading…
Wharton Prof Jitendra V. Singh appointed Dean of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s Business School
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has appointed Wharton Prof. of Management, Jitendra V Singh as Dean of its School of Business and Management, effective September 1, 2014. The appointment came after the school conducted an open and competitive international search.
Prof. Singh is a world class management scholar and business educator at the Wharton School of Business, where he is currently the Saul P Steinberg Professor of Management. Since joining the faculty in 1987, he has played a number of significant roles at Wharton in boosting the school’s global presence.
“Jitendra has been an invaluable member of the Wharton community,” said Thomas S Robertson, Dean of The Wharton School. “It is a bittersweet moment for the School to see him go, but we look forward to opportunities for future cooperation with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.”
Prof Tony F Chan, President of HKUST, said he was very pleased that the University has found such an acclaimed scholar and able administrator to lead HKUST Business School given the highly competitive nature of the current recruitment environment among top business schools globally. “With Prof Singh’s wide-ranging experience and achievements in the academic, business strategy and policy arenas, I am certain he will bring HKUST Business School to new heights. Boston University Announces New Harry Susilo Institute for Ethics in a Global Economy
Executive Harry Susilo has endowed a new Institute for the Boston University Graduate School of Management in order to promote dialogue and debate, through scholarly work in global ethics and by teaching cross-cultural business practices that focus on ethics in Western and Eastern cultures.
The Harry Susilo Institute for Ethics in a Global Economy is the School’s first permanently endowed center which was established in perpetuity by Susilo, and it marks a milestone for SMG as it strives for elite status among business schools. “We couldn’t be more pleased about this wonderful vote of confidence from Harry Susilo,” said BU President Robert A.
