Haas Offers EMBA in India

The Hass School of Business will launch a new executive education program for senior executives working in India. The program is offered in partnership with India-based Northwest Executive Education (NEE). The Executive Program in Management will apply core Haas and Silicon Valley principles of innovation and leadership to the world’s future home of the largest and youngest workforce ever known.

In its first year, the program aims to enroll approximately 50 director- and vice president-level executives, primarily from India, but also from neighboring countries in South and Southeast Asia, who are looking to improve their performance, advance within their organizations, and launch new initiatives.

UC Berkeley Holds DataLead Conference

The former chief scientist at Amazon, a data scientist at Walmart Labs, a quantitative analyst at Google and a data strategist at Morgan Stanley are among the experts who will share insights at the DataLead conference at UC Berkeley September 30 through October 2, 2014. The inaugural conference, which draws from an array of speakers from Berkeley-Haas, Silicon Valley, Wall Street banks, Europe’s Big Data leaders, the U.S. Department of Defense and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, will take place at the Clark Kerr Campus Conference Center in Berkeley.

The three-day event promises to take a deep dive on big data, with an emphasis on the growing importance of analyzing and using large data sets to create business opportunities in marketing, finance and retail.

Haas Faculty Selected as Teaching Fellows

Haas School of Business faculty members Sara Beckman and Dave Rochlin have been selected as UC Berkeley Lecturer Teaching Fellows for the 2014–2015 academic year.

The Lecturer Teaching Fellows Program supports participants in generating dynamic tools and resources for enriching and/or innovating teaching practices on campus. Ten to 12 Fellows are selected each year to participate in workshops and work in teams on areas of interest to the university.

Haas Applied Innovation Workshop Series Builds Skills

Haas School of Business – UC Berkeley students learned how to design a conversation that sparks creativity and innovation in Lisa Solomon’s workshop called “Designing Strategic Conversations for Innovation.” The workshop is one of a half-dozen offerings in the Full-time Berkeley MBA Program’s new Applied Innovation Workshop Series.

“It was great to learn how you could build an engaging presentation in a larger retreat setting to help people understand what the problems are,” Kavita Patel, MBA 15, said after attending the workshop led by Solomon, an expert within the intersecting spaces of design, leadership, and innovation.

The Applied Innovation Workshop Series is designed to help students build skills that are not generally offered in the formal curriculum to help them in their job search and post-MBA careers. Haas School Creates Executive Level Program in Shanghai

The Haas School of Business is providing an executive-level program in Shanghai that presents a Silicon Valley perspective on business, innovation, and leadership topics to top Chinese leaders. The program is taught by Berkeley-Haas faculty, starting May 6, 2014.

This Partnership for China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong and Berkeley-Haas is a three-year pilot program between Berkeley-Haas and the China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong in Shanghai, according to a memorandum of understanding signed by Berkeley-Haas Dean Rich Lyons and Professor Feng Jun, executive vice president of CELAP.

CELAP is one of three preeminent Chinese government leadership academies and provides international, contemporary leadership development for China’s senior officials. Continue reading…
