Weiss, a Senior Lecturer and Executive in Residence for Finance at the Merrick School of Business, to the Board of Directors for both Lexington Market and the Baltimore Public Markets Corporation (BPMC). George Mason Dean Named to Burke & Herbert Board of Directors
Congratulations are in order for George Mason University School of Business dean Sarah E. Nutter, who has been elected to the Burke & Herbert Bank Board of Directors, according to a press release on the school’s website. Burke & Herbert is Virginia’s oldest bank and has been owned and operated by members of the Burke and Herbert families since 1852. Nutter’s addition to the Board of Directors brings the board’s total membership to eleven. Columbia Awards Annual Alumni Medals
Three Columbia Business School graduates have received the 2014 Columbia University Alumni Medals. Mitch Freinberg, ’77, Philippa Feldman Portnoy, ’90, and Sabin Streeter, ’67, have all been honored for their distinguished service of 10 years or more to Columbia. Founded in 1933, alumni medals are given to those known to serve all that is Columbia. This includes the school itself, alumni associations, regional Columbia clubs and university-wide initiatives. Vanguard Chairman and CEO Bill McNabb Delivered Keynote at Drexel University’s LeBow School of Business Academic Conference
Chairman and CEO of the Vanguard Group Bill McNabb III delivered the keynote address at the Center for Corporate Governance (CCG) 2014 Academic Conference held at LeBow College of Business at Drexel University on April 25. Drexel faculty along with national and international academics participated in the conference.
In his address, McNabb spoke about the six key principles of responsible corporate governance that Vanguard adheres to and advocates by the companies in which their funds invest. Independent oversight, accountability, engagement, sensible compensation tied to performance, shareholder voting rights consistent with economic interests and minimal anti-takeover devices and annual direct elections serve to inform and influence Vanguard’s views on corporate governance.
