New Contributions Double Booth’s New Venture Capital Challenge Award
University of Chicago Booth School of Business students competing in the school’s annual New Venture Challenge (NVC) will be vying for $250,000 in funding after the Pritzker Group and the University of Chicago Innovation Fund donated additional funds to the entrepreneurship program.

Chicago Booth Celebrates Two Decades in Europe
In the last 20 years, Chicago Booth’s presence in Europe has seen its share of change in an ever changing continental economy. Looking to the future, nearly 500 guests, including faculty, staff, students, corporate employers, government representatives and nearly 300 alumni gathered to celebrate the business school’s 20 years of influence in Europe and ponder what the next two decades will hold. The four-day event included panel discussions, “A European Identity for the 21st Century,” keynote speakers, and presentations from faculty, alumni reunion class dinners, and networking events.
Booth Students Take on Kilts Case Competition
As part of a case competition hosted by the Kilts Center for Marketing and Kraft Foods, 11 student teams from the Booth School of Business took on the challenge of revitalizing one of Krafts’ most recognizable brands– Capri Sun. Many of the students on these teams probably drank the iconic juice-in-a-puch brand growing up.
The teams’ challenge wasn’t as simple as poking a straw through the top of the drink. They had three days to stabilize the business in the short term and make the brand more relevant, requested and successful for years to come. The winners of the competition were guaranteed an internship interview at Kraft and given the chance to have dinner with Kraft’s Chief Marketing Officer Deanie Elsner, ’92. Continue reading…
Booth MBAs Take Home First Place Prize at the 2015 Kellogg Biotech & Healthcare Case Competition
A team of Chicago Booth MBA students came took home a $5,000 first-place prize at the 2015 Kellogg Biotech & Healthcare Case Competition at Northwestern University. In additon to the money prize, Team Evidence– made up of Dr. Jonas de Souza, Lindsay Davis, Jason Lipes, and Barry Sandall, all of whom are Booth – also came home with a launch plan that included pricing and forecasting for Amgen’s medication Evolocumab, a newer cholesterol drug under FDA consideration. Booth Professor Debunks Idea That Two Heads Are Better Than One
The phrase “two heads are better than one” is a popular one in the realms of business, government and daily life, the thinking being that when individuals work together in group scenaros the outcome is better than solo work. But in their new book, “WISER: Getting Beyond Groupthink to Make Groups Smarter,” authors Reid Hastie, a professor of behavioral science at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and Cass Sunstein, a professor at Harvard Law School, turn this age-old thinking on its head (or both of heads?), explaining that in fact group decisions are actually flawed much of the time.
