BC App Deadline Jan. 15
The second round of application deadlines for the full-time MBA program at Boston College Carroll School of Management is Jan. 15, 2015. Those who apply by this deadline will receive an admissions decision by March 15, 2015. The program will begin in the Fall of 2015.
The full-time MBA program is a two-year program that combines carefully sequenced courses with a variety of experiential learning components. Students in the program must also complete a concentration along with the MBA degree in order to personalize their educational experience to fit future career goals. Concentration options include asset management, business analytics, competitive service delivery, corporate finance, entrepreneurial management, financial reporting and control, global management, leadership and management, marketing and information analytics and product and brand management.

Boston College Carroll School of Management student Jeremy Ferguson, MBA ’16, shared advice on how to choose the right MBA program. Ferguson shared his own journey to choosing Boston College for his business school. He shared this story with the BC Carroll School news.

BC Prof Named Chair of Social Security Panel
The Drucker Chair of Management Sciences at the Carroll School of Management, Alicia Munnell, has been named the Chair of the Social Security Advisory Board’s 2015 Technical Panel on Assumptions and Methods. The Technical Panel on Assumption and Methods was created in order to review the assumptions and methods used by the Social Security trustees in their annual report on the program’s financial status.
Congress created the Social Security Advisory Board with the charge of advising the President, the Congress and the Commissioner of Social Security on matters relating to the nation’s retirement and disability systems. Its mandates also include increasing public understanding of the Social Security system. The President, the Senate and the House of Representatives appoint members of the advisory board on a bipartisan basis.
BC Names New Senior Assoc. Dean for Faculty
The Carroll School of Management has named Hassan Tehranian as senior associate dean for faculty. Tehranian has been a Carroll School of Management faculty member for 35 years and chair of the school’s Finance Department since 2003. Tehranian is the Griffith Millennium Professor in Finance and director of the Center for Asset Management and is also the founder of the school’s graduate program in finance.
In his new position, he will head up faculty development efforts, lead strategic projects, engage with alumni and fundraising activities and work with recently arrived Associate Dean for Graduate Programs Betsy Griffith on academic and curriculum issues.
BC Prof. Named to Presidential Emergency Board
BC professor David Twomey has been named to President Obama’s Presidential Emergency Board. Professor Twomey teaches Business Law at the Carroll School of Business. This is the second Presidential Emergency Board that the Obama Administration has created. Continue reading…
