BU Professors Awarded Standard Life Investments Prize
Boston University School of Management Professors Yrjo Koskinen and Rui Albuquerque have been awarded the 2014 Standard Life Investments prize for best paper in the European Corporate Governance Institute’s Finance Working Paper series. This annual prize, sponsored by global asset manager Standard Life Investments, was awarded for their research paper in which they create an industry equilibrium model where firms can choose to engage in corporate social responsibility activities.
BU and Babson Professors Co-Publish New Book
Kathy Kram, Professor in Management at Boston University School of Management and Wendy Murphy, associate professor of management at Babson College, have published a new book titled Strategic Relationships at Work: Creating Your Circle of Mentors, Sponsors, and Peers for Success in Business and Life. The book provides guidelines for building relationships that are crucial to personal success. The book draws upon 30 years of research to offer practical advice on mentoring, coaching, mentoring circles, and developmental networks.
BU Students Win Core New Product Challenge
Nine students at Boston University School of Management were crowned champions at the 16th Core New Product Challenge, the culmination of SM323 (known as “The Core”), for their presentation of a new dog-feeding accessory.
The SM323 sets of courses are marketing, operations, information systems, and finance. All four courses are integrated into a one-semester sequence through a common semester-long project focused on new product development. Continue reading…
Boston University Announces New Harry Susilo Institute for Ethics in a Global Economy
Executive Harry Susilo has endowed a new Institute for the Boston University Graduate School of Management in order to promote dialogue and debate, through scholarly work in global ethics and by teaching cross-cultural business practices that focus on ethics in Western and Eastern cultures.
The Harry Susilo Institute for Ethics in a Global Economy is the School’s first permanently endowed center which was established in perpetuity by Susilo, and it marks a milestone for SMG as it strives for elite status among business schools. “We couldn’t be more pleased about this wonderful vote of confidence from Harry Susilo,” said BU President Robert A. Brown. “What began as a conversation about shared values between SMG Dean Ken Freeman and Harry Susilo has blossomed into a powerful tool for understanding and promoting ethical behavior in the business arena.” Continue reading…
