Member of Booth Global Advisory Board Named Brazil’s Finance Minister
Joaquim Levy, a member of the Booth School of Business Global Advisory Board, has been named Brazil’s new finance minister. This honor was levied upon him by Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff. Levy — who has been dubbed “Scissorhands” thanks to his willingness to cut public spending — has been tasked to help revive Brazil’s slumping economy and lessen its growing debt. McDonough Professors Take Time to Teach Brazilian MS Execs
Executives from within Microsoft’s Brazilian subsidiary attended a special executive education course at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. The five-day Microsoft Brazil Leadership Program addressed the tech company’s focus on giving their international executives insights on innovative thinking, international strategy and planning and implementing change management. Kellogg Names Its 2015 McGowan Fellow

Rhett Braunschweig has been named the Kellogg School of Management’s 2015 McGowan Fellow. The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund works with 10 top-tier MBA programs to honor students who have demonstrated academic excellence and social leadership. Application Period Open for Graziado Global Program
The application period for the Graziado Global Program “Brazil” will open July 7, 2014. The one-week program will take place December 7 to December 13, 2014. Participants will discover the technology and manufacturing hub of Brazil, the largest country in Latin America with a world of opportunity for business.
The program will cost $3,595 for a single room accommodation and $3,095 for a shared room. Participants are required to find his or her own roommate for a shared room. The program fee includes lodging for six nights, breakfasts and some lunches, classroom sessions, speakers, company visits, government visits, cultural tours, or activities, transportation during the program week (including airfare transportation from Sao Paulo to Curitiba-roundtrip back to Sao Paulo.)
Students may take this course for credit. Classes will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students are also required to pay a Brazil Visa Fee of $185. Applications will be accepted until October 3, 2014. There will be a mandatory pre-departure meeting on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Applications can be completed online.
