Greek Prime Minister Honors Cass Scholar in Athens
The Greek Prime Minister has praised Cass Business School Professor Costas Grammenos for his “pioneering” teaching and research on shipping finance.
Giving an official speech in Athens, Antonis Samaras acclaimed Professor Grammenos for his “vision ahead of time” in founding the Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance. The Prime Minister’s remarks came at an event marking 30 years since Professor Grammenos launched the international Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance.
Mr Samaras said the Greek nation was “proud” of Professor Grammenos for his “pioneering work” in “preparing the future and the people that will make it happen”.

Cass MBA Students Put Skills To Test at Sandhurst
Leaving the lecture hall for the grounds of the elite Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Cass MBA students got out of their comfort zones for an intensive leadership course as part of their Professional Development Week.
The Achieving Your Potential programme, delivered in partnership with Inspirational Development Group (IDG), helped students to build their knowledge and skills in effective partnership and leadership.
The three-day learning event was staged at the British Army’s world-renowned officer training headquarters, where cadets are introduced to key leadership principles such as creating clarity of purpose, building co-operation and maintenance of morale in challenging or ambiguous contexts.

BBC Director Finds Audience at Cass Business School
Tony Hall, Director General of the BBC and Baron Hall of Birkenhead, shared his experience leading global organizations with an audience at Cass Business School.
The veteran BBC journalist and former CEO of the Royal Opera House took part in an hour-long interview with Professor Laura Empson, Director of Cass’s Centre for Professional Service Firms.
Titled ‘Leadership and Change in the Public Eye,’ the interview was the latest in a series of discussions organized by Professor Empson with senior leaders of professional services firms.

Tallow Chandlers Company Honors Cass MBA students
Seven Cass Business School students, who all achieved at least 70% in their final Business Mastery Projects (BMP), were celebrated at the annual prize dinner hosted at the company’s historic Tallow Chandlers Hall in the City of London.
They were judged by a panel of senior Tallow Chandlers Company members that was looking for work that contributed to organizational, commercial or managerial effectiveness, was of value to the client and displayed well-structured, evidence-based arguments.
After a formal dinner, Professor Steve Thomas announced the five winners, who each spoke about their professional achievements and explained the subject of their dissertation. The winners were presented with silver engraved candlesticks by the Master of Ceremonies, reflecting the Company’s ancient links with the tallow candle trade.

Fry gave full-time students an insight into the highly competitive business world of Formula 1 where teams spend millions on developing the latest technology to gain an edge measured in thousandths of second.

Cass Business School Alumni Flock to Monaco for Networking Weekend
The fourth annual alumni gathering in Monaco drew 200 Cass Business School alumni for a weekend of reunions and networking.
Alumni and guests came together from all across Europe and as far as Ghana, South Africa, Kazakhstan and Dubai. They were welcomed with a drinks reception hosted by EasyJet founder and Cass alumnus, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, on the terrace of his Stelios Philanthropic Foundation.
Sir Stelios, who studied on Cass’s Shipping, Trade and Finance MSc, was delighted to host the event and hoped it would inspire others to give back to the Business School.
