A new study by Booth School of Business Assistant Professor Elena Belavina, INSEAD Professor of Sustainable Development Karan Girotra, and INSEAD Ph.D. candidate Ashish Kabra found that cities can increase ridership on bike-sharing systems without spending more money on bikes or docking points by redesigning the network, according to a press release on the university’s website. Mark Cuban offers up to $500,000 to Booth MBA For Inflatable Lights Startup On Shark Tank
Chicago Booth MBA student Andrea Sreshta and her business partner Anna Stork appeared television’s “Shark Tank” to seek funding for their inflatable solar-powered light startup, LuminAID. The group received offers from all five investors, including entrepreneur and billionaire Mark Cuban, who made the winning bid. Cuban offered $200,000 for a 15 percent stake in LuminAID, plus an option to lead the next round of investing with $300,000. Continue reading…
Panel of Booth Economists Forecast Growth at Economic Outlook 2015
According to a panel of Chicago Booth economists, The United States economy is on the road to 3 percent growth this year, but it will come with a few potholes along the way. The economists gave their opinions on the matter at Economic Outlook 2015 in New York.

Booth School Awaiting Approval of New Facility in Asia
Chicago Booth is excited to be carving out a new outpost in Asia. A project to renovate the historic Mount Davis site, which is in the approval process, would create a University of Chicago center fit to house the Chicago Booth Executive MBA Program in Asia. The site, found within dense urban landscape of Hong Kong, would establish a new intellectual hub in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
First a little history: Mount Davis served as an artillery battery in the 1930s and after World War II was converted to a mess and clubhouse for British officers. It later served as a government detention facility. Continue reading…
Booth MBAs Take Home First Place Prize at the 2015 Kellogg Biotech & Healthcare Case Competition
A team of Chicago Booth MBA students came took home a $5,000 first-place prize at the 2015 Kellogg Biotech & Healthcare Case Competition at Northwestern University. In additon to the money prize, Team Evidence– made up of Dr. Jonas de Souza, Lindsay Davis, Jason Lipes, and Barry Sandall, all of whom are Booth – also came home with a launch plan that included pricing and forecasting for Amgen’s medication Evolocumab, a newer cholesterol drug under FDA consideration. Three respected economists– Randall S. Kroszner, Norman R. Bobins Professor of Economics; Austan D. Goolsbee, Robert P. Gwinn Professor of Economics; and Carl R. Tannenbaum, AB ’81, MBA ’84, senior vice president and chief economist at Northern Trust Corp.– offered their forecasts at the annual Chicago Booth Economic Outlook 2015.
