Quinlan Announces Date for Schreiber Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

According to a press release, a ribbon cutting ceremony for the John and Kathy Schreiber Center, the new home of Loyola’s Quinlan School of Business, will be taking place next week. Hosted by John P. Pelissero, Interim President, Loyola University Chicago, and Kevin Stevens, Dean, Quinlan School of Business, the event will be taking place at 16 E. Here’s a Few UIC Liautaud Classes You Can Still Register Into Before Classes Start

Are you an incoming MBA student to the Liautaud Graduate School of Business who is still working on putting the final touches on your Fall ’15 schedule? First off, quit procrastinating, that kind of behavior will catch up with you in business school! Any way, lucky for you, Jasmin Aßmann from the University of Illinois Chicago Liautaud Loop blog put together a list of two-credit courses available next semester. Lofty Fundraising Goals Come Into Sight for Quinlan School of Business

Loyola University Chicago has made it a point to make 2015 a huge year for fundraising. A Crain’s Chicago Business article points out that the school specifically placed a fundraising goal of $100 million for the Quinlan School of Business. As of March, the school had already managed to receive $70 million in pledges.

A large chunk of this change came from alumnus Michael Quinlan, former McDonald’s CEO, who committed $40 million in 2012, and alumnus John Schreiber and his wife Kathy, who promised $10 million last year. Continue reading…

Remembering Joan Bailar: Former Lake Forest Board Chair and Faculty Member

Joan Bailar, former Lake Forest Graduate School of Business Board Chair and faculty member, passed away at home on July 29 after a long illness. The news was announced in a press release on the LFGSM website.

Bailar served on the LFGSM Board of Directors from 2006-2014, as Board Chair from 2009-2013, and was awarded the Distinguished Director Award in November 2013 for her outstanding leadership of the Board and her passion for education. While on the Board she served as Chair of the Degree Programs, Human Resources & Compensation and the Executive Committees. Continue reading…

Quinlan’s New Dean Kevin Stevens Discusses Plans For School’s Future

Last month the Quinlan School of Business introduced Kevin T. Stevens as the school’s newest dean. Stevens returns to Loyola from DePaul University where he served as professor of accounting, director of the School of Accountancy and Management Information Systems, and director of global initiatives in the College of Business.

“Returning to Loyola as dean is an honor. The broad-based Jesuit education I received was instrumental in whatever success I have had in my career, and I am delighted to join a faculty and staff committed to the values-based leadership that business today is demanding,” said Stevens. Loyola University Chicago Partners With 1871

According to an article on the Quinlan School of Business website, Loyola University Chicago and 1871, a co-working space for digital and tech entrepreneurs located in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart building, have partnered up. Referred to as “the Silicon Valley of Chicago,” 1871 connects startup ideas with mentors, educational resources, potential investors, and a community of like-minded individuals and companies.

A partnership with a leading Metro-area business school makes a lot of sense for the both the university and the cooperative space. Now Loyola students, faculty, and staff will now have access to a small space at 1871 that will allow six student-entrepreneurs to work and network together. Continue reading…
