D’Amore-McKim Offers MS in Innovation
The D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University offers students the opportunity to pursue a career in innovation through its Masters of Science in Innovation program. The MS in Innovation program is a one-year specialized masters program that is aimed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to move in to leadership roles in the future. Students in the program will learn the fundamentals of innovation in business through class projects, case studies and real-world application at their own organization.
The MS in Innovation program at D’Amore-McKim is a part-time program that was designed for working professionals. Students spend an intensive year focusing on technology and entrepreneurship through courses that are tailored to innovation in a corporate setting and business innovation. Students in the program will learn to identify business opportunities and how to work within and out of their corporation to maximize their potential as leaders.
D’Amore-McKim Professor Interviewed on Changes to School and Boston
Fernando Suarez is the newly appointed Jean C. Tempel Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the D’Amore-McKim School of Business. Suarez has lived, completed research and worked on four different continents in addition to working at Boston University, MIT, London Business School, Hitotsubashi University in Japan, Adolfo Ibáñez University and ESE Business School in Chile.
While at BU, Suarez founded the Strategy and Innovation Department. While he was at the Adolfo Ibáñez University, he launched the international MBa program, developed a software company and began offering strategy and innovation consulting for several firms in the software, telecommunications, manufacturing and financial sectors.
Healthcare Professionals: Healthcare MBA or MHA?
Healthcare professionals who decide to return to school for an advanced degree have one important decision to make- choosing between the Masters in Healthcare Administration (MHA) or the Healthcare MBA. When deciding which program to choose, it is important to know the differences between the two types of programs and how each degree will benefit your future career goals and expectations.
The main difference between the two degrees is the focuses of their curriculums. The MHA degree focuses on the business of the healthcare industry. The MBA degree gives students an extensive but broad insight into the business world as a whole. Healthcare MBA programs do offer students healthcare industry-specific courses, but most programs only require students to complete a few courses to complete the concentration, track, specialization or minor.
D’Amore-McKim Hosts Networking Event for Europeans in Boston
The D’Amore-McKim School of Business will be hosting a networking event for all Europeans currently living in the Boston area. The event will be held Friday, July 17, at Northeastern’s Columbus Place, Alumni Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is open to the public as well as Northeastern alumni. Drinks and appetizers will be provided to those in attendance.

D’Amore-McKim offers Part-Time, Full-Time and Executive MBA programs as well as several different MS, JD and numerous graduate certificate programs. The school also offers two dual degree programs for JD/MBA and LLM/MBA.
D’Amore-McKim Holds Ninth Annual Family Business Awards
The D’Amore-McKim School of Business held the ninth annual Family Business Awards June 10. The Family Business Awards is a showcase for local multi-generational family businesses. The event was organized by the D’Amore-McKim’s Center for Family Business. More than 125 family business owners, representatives and researchers gathered at Northeastern University’s Fenway Center for the awards event.
During the showcase, several business were honored for successfully passing the business from one generation to the next. The event also awarded businesses in three different size categories. The first place winner in the small-size company category, fewer than 25 employees, was Belmont Car Wash & Detailing. First place in the medium-size company category, 25-to-100 employees was Stop and Compare Supermarkets. Interstate Electrical Services was awarded first place among large-size business, more than 100 full-time employees.
D’Amore-McKim Holds Women Who Inspire Speaker Series
The next Women Who Inspire Speaker Series at the D’Amore-McKim School of Business will be held June 16. This event titled, “Finance and Private Equity” will feature industry professionals that will discuss financial trends, mitigating risks and emerging markets. The event will be held 5:00 to 7:30 pm at the Northeastern University campus in Boston. The event is free for all Northeastern students, faculty and staff. Registration for the event can be completed online.
The event’s featured panelist include, Mary Deatherage, managing director of wealth management and private wealth advisor, Morgan Stanley, Fran Jani, founding partner of Pomona Capital and Rachel Tyler, senior vice president of Fidelity Investments. The moderator for the panel discussion will be Mike Sanders, executive director of the Potomac Research Group. The cost of the program for industry professionals and Northeastern alumni is $45.
