Argyros School Receives $2.5 Mil For Data Analytics MBA
Chapman University’s Argyros School of Business and Economics recently announced an impressive gift that will enable MBAs to pursue even greater opportunity in the field of data analytics.
The $2.5 million gift was given by the Kay Family Foundation, which has lent its support to many of the university’s most valued programs. The donation was received just five years after the Orange Country-based foundation awarded Chapman with $5 million towards the then-new 1,100 seat Center for the Arts. In 2012, the foundation was also the principle fundraiser for Chapman’s Richard Watson Asian Studies Distinguished Speaker Series.

Sloan Alum Startup twoXAR Uses Big Data to Connect Diseases with Drugs
MIT Sloan School of Management recently published an article on biopharmaceutical firm twoXAR (pronounced “two czar”), launched by Sloan alumnus Andrew M. Radin (MBA ‘14) and Andrew A. Radin (no relation). The firm takes a big data approach to scan “the handful of drug candidates out of a drug library of thousands, if not millions, that would most effectively treat a specific disease.”

MIT Sloan Announces New Master of Business Analytics Degree
In a recent press release, MIT Sloan in collaboration with the MIT Operations Research Center unveiled its new Master of Business Analytics (M.B.An.) degree—a graduate program to compliment its undergraduate and doctoral offerings—slated to begin as part of the fall 2016 semester. The M.B.An. is intended to prepare students to apply “the tools of modern data science to solve problems in business and society.”
