Hofstra Launches New Center for Entrepreneurship
Hofstra University has launched its brand new Center for Entrepreneurship. The new center will be directed by Mark Lesko. Lesko, who will become the executive dean of the center, currently serves as the executive director of Accelerate Long Island, a group that brings research institutions together with local business communities to create new economic ventures. Lesko has also served as a federal prosecutor and the supervisor of the Town of Brookhaven.
As the executive dean of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Hofstra, Lesko will continue his work to connect Hofstra University with the local business community to fund startups, commercialize research and expand Hofstra’s entrepreneurial impact on the community. In order to expand Hofstra’s entrepreneurial reach, the school will also expand the entrepreneurship curriculum and will coordinate business plan competitions to help fund student startup ideas.

Remembering Joan Bailar: Former Lake Forest Board Chair and Faculty Member
Joan Bailar, former Lake Forest Graduate School of Business Board Chair and faculty member, passed away at home on July 29 after a long illness. The news was announced in a press release on the LFGSM website.
Bailar served on the LFGSM Board of Directors from 2006-2014, as Board Chair from 2009-2013, and was awarded the Distinguished Director Award in November 2013 for her outstanding leadership of the Board and her passion for education. Alumni Profile: Rohan Shah, Kogod MBA ’09
Rohan Shah, an alum from American University’s Kogod School of Business, gained great interest in green energy and sustainability while earning his MBA. Through his studies and experiences he deduced that it’s not possible to have a growing economy without growing resources.

UCLA Anderson Entrepreneurship Bootcamp Helps Kick Start Vets
On Saturday, July 11, 2015, a group disabled veterans will use their military abilities of resilience, focus, and leadership to learn the basics of business ownership at the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) at UCLA Anderson. The event, which is hosted in partnership between the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University (IVMF) and the Harold and Pauline Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at UCLA Anderson School of Management, helps post-9/11 veterans with service-connected disabilities develop skills and tools needed to launch, grow and lead successful businesses.
