Baruch Hosts Watson Case Competition
The Lawrence N. Field center for Entrepreneurship at Baruch College and the CUNY Institute for Virtual Enterprise are hosting the CUNY-IBM Watson Case Competition. All matriculated CUNY students are invited to participate in the event.
The CUNY-IBM Watson Case Competition is an opportunity to learn and develop apps for applying the IBM Watson cognitive technology to improve the operation of organizations and the delivery of services to customers. This competition is an opportunity for CUNY students to be part of the new generation involved in the jobs and businesses that will be created.
University of Delaware Alum Launch New App
A new iPhone application called Anniversary, is the brainchild of 2013 University of Delaware graduates Benjamin Klein and Kenneth Wallach. Anniversary takes the instant gratification of today’s social media and turns it on its head.
The app is like an Instagram that’s not instant, a Facebook post that can’t be “liked” or a Twitter comment that can’t be re-tweeted. That’s the idea behind Anniversary, a new iPhone application that allows users to privately surprise their friends and family with digitally gift-wrapped photos and videos delivered on a future date.
McDonough Students and Alumni Cap Off Incubator at 1776
Georgetown McDonough School of Business students and alumni shared their enterprising business ideas at 1776—an event that capped off the two-month long incubator program through the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative’s StartupHoyas. This year, 18 ventures made of students and alumni participated in the Summer Launch Program where teams developed a broad range of business ideas, from food to fashion to fantasy soccer. Cambridge Judge Launches Entrepreneurship Discussion Series
The role of government in nurturing entrepreneurship will be explored at three policy breakfasts in the Palace of Whitehall, hosted by the Industry and Parliament Trust at the House of Commons and supported by research from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School.
The first event, on July 14th at 8:30pm, will focus on ‘Red Tape Fatigue? The role of government in supporting & encouraging entrepreneurship’. The experiences of leading British entrepreneurs, the challenges faced by people wanting set up their own business and how entrepreneurs could be better supported by Government policy will be the subjects under debate. The forum will be facilitated by a senior decision maker within industry and parliament. A short speech from both the academic and industry practitioner will be followed by a roundtable-style discussion.
Carey School Co-Sponsors Entrepreneurship Bootcamp
Doctors, researchers, and other health professionals gathered at the Johns Hopkins University on July 21 for the second part of the JHU Entrepreneurship Bootcamp series. A joint effort between Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, Carey Business School, and School of Medicine, the multi-session summer event’s purpose was to foster entrepreneurship across the university. Anderson Holds Bootcamp for Veterans
The ‘Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities’ (EBV) at Anderson School of Management was held July 12, 2014 to July 20, 2014. EBV offers cutting edge, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines disabled as a result of their service supporting operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
The intent of the EBV is to open the door to entrepreneurial opportunity and small business ownership by developing your competencies in the many steps and activities associated with creating and sustaining an entrepreneurial venture and also by helping you coordinate your efforts with programs and services for veterans and others with disabilities.
