Rob Adams Announced As New UW Foster Entrepreneurship Center Director
For years the Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship has integrated entrepreneurship into the very fabric of the University of Washington, particularly its Foster School of Business. Now, with Seattle angel investor, startup mentor and former Cisco acquisitions manager Rob Adams as the next director, there are more great things to come. Adams succeeds Connie Bourassa-Shaw, who will be stepping down at the end of June to take her place as the part-time executive director of the Foster School’s new Master of Science in Entrepreneurship degree program. Foster School Offers Tips for their TMMBA Admissions Essay
Writing an admissions essay is never easy. And it can be especially daunting for students applying to unique MBA programs such as the Technology Management MBA program at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. That’s why executive director Tracy Gojdics decided to share some of her top tips on how to approach this portion of your admissions essay.
Gojdics provided her advice in a short video on the Foster School website. In the video, she reminds students that the essay is a chance for self-reflection and an opportunity for the Admissions team to get to know you better. She also offered the following tips.
Foster School Has More MBAs Gaining Tech Employment Than Any Other B-School
The University of Washington’s Foster School of Business has become the leading B-school in tech employment. According to the 2016 employment reports, more MBAs at Foster took tech jobs than at any other school—outpacing even Silicon Valley schools such as Stanford GSB and the University of California, Berkeley. In fact, Foster sent more than half (52 percent) of its MBA graduates into the tech sector, that’s a 9 percent increase over last year and a 13.2 percent lead over the next closest school. Foster MBA Program #1 in Job Placement in the Northwest
If you want to ensure that you have a job after earning an MBA, then you ought to consider the full-time and Evening MBA programs at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. According to the most recent U.S. News & World Report release on the Best Business Schools, the Foster MBA program led the top 30 schools in job placement, ranking first in the Northwest region and 27th overall. Foster Professors Rank Highly in Psychology Research
According to an upcoming study to be published in the journal Industrial and Organizational Psychology, two Foster School of Business professors—Bruce Avolio and Terence Mitchell—are among the top 20 most-cited researchers of all time in the field of industrial and organizational psychology. The field, which covers the scientific study of working and the application of that science to workplace issues, includes 9,000 psychology research scholars.
The ranking, compiled by researchers at George Washington University, tallied the number of times each researcher was cited in I-O psychology textbooks. It also tallied their total number of citations in an array of academic journals, books and press. Avolio and Mitchell each tied at 18th overall. Continue reading…
