Former Home Depot CEO Addresses Temple Fox School’s Future Entrepreneurs

Ethics in entrepreneurship cannot be overlooked, according to the co-founder and former Home Depot CEO, Bernard “Bernie” Marcus at Temple University’s Fox School of Business.

Bernie Marcus is the first Musser Visiting Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Fox School of Business. The professorship began in 2015 with the goal of fostering mentorship to students who aim to launch their own ventures.

Fox Holds International Tourism and Biz Development Panel

The Fox School of Business will hold a panel discussion on International Tourism and Business Development. Fox will host the event in conjunction with the School of Hospitality Management at Temple University. The panel discussion will focus on the results of the world meeting of families on international business and tourism in the Philadelphia area, and beyond. The event will be held Oct. 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The panel discussion will feature experts from international tourism and hospitality business development. Panelist include, Jack Ferguson, CEO and President of Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, Meryl Levitz, CEO and President of Visit Philadelphia, Brian Said, Executive Director, Tourism Division – Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, Zabeth Teelucksingh, Executive Director of Global Philadelphia Association and Bill Gehrman, Founder and Principal of En Route Marketing.

Forbes Ranks Fox Among Top Schools for ROI and Job Placement

Forbes has ranked Temple University’s Fox School of Business among the top schools for job placement and return on investment. According to Forbes’ 2015 Best Business School rankings, the Fox Global MBA program has been ranked in the top 65 nationally for ROI and states that the school’s 95 percent job placement rate is “better than the vast majority of schools in the country.”

This is the school’s second consecutive appearance in Forbes’ biennial survey, which was released Sept. 9. Fox joins The Wharton School as the only other business school in Philadelphia to be ranked. Forbes rankings are based on the ROI achieved by students who graduate in the class of 2010. The rankings were evaluated based on a survey of 17,400 alumni from 95 different schools. To determine the rankings for ROI, the students’ total earning in the first five years out of the program were compared to the total cost of the program.

Fox Introduces New Tech Support for Online Students and Faculty

The Online and Digital Learning team at the Fox School of Business has announced the introduction of Blackboard-based video tutorials. These tutorials were designed to aid the faculty at Fox with convenient technological support. Students will also have access to these video tutorials which, will ultimately help both students and staff to find the answers to the technological related questions in regards to their courses online. The Online and Digital Learning team created these some 40 videos over the course of nine months.

The videos available will cover topics ranging from how to set up courses, rubrics and assessments, to grading submitted assignments and beyond.  The video tutorials are being introduced in conjunction with the launch of the new Fox Online & Digital Learning website, which is available to both students and staff. The Blackboard tutorials can be found under the Faculty & Student Resources tab.

Fox Maintains AACSB Accreditation

The Fox School of Business has been reaccredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB accreditation is considered the hallmark of excellence in business education. Less than five percent of business programs are accredited by AACSB. Accredited institutions must undergo a reaccreditation review every five years. The Fox School has been accredited by AACSB International since 1934.

AACSB International was founded in 1916. It is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate degrees in business and accounting. To be considered as an AACSB International member institution, schools must offer undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in business. Schools may voluntarily apply for AACSB Business Accreditation.

Fox Hosts Personalized Visit

Temple University’s Fox School of Business will be hosting a personalized visit to the School. Fox Discovery Day will give prospective students an opportunity to experience the Fox School of Business first hand. Discovery Day will be held Feb. 28. Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m. and the event will begin at 9 a.m.

During the visit, prospective students will have the opportunity to meet current students, alumni, faculty and the admissions team to learn more about the various graduate degree programs, the admissions process and Fox’s extensive student services. The event will feature a sample class as well as a presentation from the Center for Student Professional Development.
