Hofstra Students Place Second at Investment Competition
A group of Hofstra University students took second place at this year’s Adirondack Cup stock picking challenge. The Challenge is a six-month contest sponsored by a boutique mutual fund company that was co-founded by an alumnus from the Zarb School of Business. For the challenge, students from 18 different colleges and universities in the Northeast, managed a hypothetical stock portfolio valued at $1 million. The goal of the competition is to give students the opportunity to test investment ideas and management concepts for portfolios.
Adirondack Research & Management Inc. sponsors the competition. Adirondack Research & Management Inc. is the Advisor to The Adirondack Small Cap Fund (ADKSX), an SEC registered no-load mutual fund established in 2005. During the competition, the Hofstra team posted a 35.38 percent return during the competition.
Zarb Partners with The Progressive School to Provide IT Education
Last year, the Zarb School of Business began working with The Progressive School in Long Island to create The Next Generation Computer Programming Academy. The program helps to teach teach computer coding to third- to eighth-grade students. Graduate students and upperclassmen in the Hofstra Information Technology Association work with the students using tiny, low-cost portable computers, called Raspberry Pi, to teach basic programming skills.
The partnership between Zarb and The Progressive School is funded by a grant from OpenLink, a Uniondale financial software company. The grant helped to purchase 30 new computer monitors for the school and also helps to fund stipends for the Hofstra student instructors.
Zarb Holds Grad Business Information Session
The Frank G. Zarb School of Business will be holding a Graduate Business Information session. The event will be held April 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. The information session will be held in C.V. Starr Hall on the Hofstra University campus. The information session will cover the Evening MBA, Full-Time Day MBA, Online MBA and Executive MBA programs offered at Zarb. Those interested in attending the information session can complete a registration form online.
During the information session, prospective students will have the opportunity to meet with graduate faculty at Zarb as well as representatives from the Graduate Business Office and the Frank G. Zarb School of Business Career Center. In addition to the program overview, attendants will also learn more about the application process and have any questions related to the program, financing or application answered.
Zarb Holds Info Session for Grad Biz Programs
The next information session for the Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University will be held March 9. The event will be held at the Admission Center Theater from 6 to 8 p.m. During the event, prospective students will have the opportunity to meet with graduate faculty as well as representatives from the Graduate Business Office and the Frank G. Zarb School of Business Career Center. Attendants will also learn more about the application process and the various graduate business programs offered at Zarb. The event is free for all prospective students to attend. Registration for the event is encouraged to be completed before the event. Registration can be completed online here.
Zarb offers several MBA program options, including an Evening MBA, Full-Time Day MBA, Online MBA, and Executive MBA. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accredits all of the business graduate programs at Zarb.

The Frank G. Zarb School of Business will be hosting an upcoming information session. The event will be held Jan. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hofstra University campus. The event is free and open to all prospective graduate business students.
During the information session, prospective students will be able to meet with graduate faculty and specifically, representatives from the Graduate Business Office and the Frank G. Zarb School of Business Career Center. Attendants will have the opportunity to learn more about the application process as well as the graduate business programs offered at the school.
Hofstra Holds Grad Studies Open House
Hofstra University will be holding a Graduate Studies Open House. This event will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015. During the event, students can learn more about the MBA program options offered at the Frank G. Zarb School of Business.
Attendants will have an opportunity to speak with financial aid representatives, learn about services offered by The Career Center, and tour the Hofstra University campus. Attendants will also have the opportunity to speak with the dean of Graduate Admissions to learn more about the admissions process and the services offered for students.
