George Washington School of Business Prof. Received Competitive Manuscript Award
According to a press release on the GWSB website, the American Accounting Association (AAA) has presented George Washington School of Business Assistant Professor Youli Zou with its 2015 Competitive Manuscript Award. Zou received this honor for her manuscript, “Strategic Entry Decisions, Accounting Signals, and Risk Management Disclosure.”

George Washington Dean Discusses Women in Business at White House Event
Linda A. Livingstone, dean of the George Washington University School of Business, participated in a panel presentation hosted by the White House Council on Women and Girls and the Council of Economic Advisers. The panel, made up of leaders from the business and business school communities as well as other stakeholders, focused on opportunities for the business community and business schools to work together to adapt to the changing needs of the workforce by expanding opportunity for women in business.
According to a press release on the GWSB website, Livingstone joined representatives from more than 40 business schools in “committing to a set of best practices to build a business school experience that prepares women for the workforce of tomorrow.” Continue reading…
Healthcare Professionals: Healthcare MBA or MHA?
Healthcare professionals who decide to return to school for an advanced degree have one important decision to make- choosing between the Masters in Healthcare Administration (MHA) or the Healthcare MBA. When deciding which program to choose, it is important to know the differences between the two types of programs and how each degree will benefit your future career goals and expectations.
The main difference between the two degrees is the focuses of their curriculums. The MHA degree focuses on the business of the healthcare industry. The MBA degree gives students an extensive but broad insight into the business world as a whole. Healthcare MBA programs do offer students healthcare industry-specific courses, but most programs only require students to complete a few courses to complete the concentration, track, specialization or minor.

Apple’s Tim Cook Headlines GWSB Commencement Speaker Schedule
Commencement at George Washington University takes place over the entire course of this week before coming to its conclusion on Sunday, May 17. Those receiving their MBAs from the GW School of Business have an impressive array of talented and influential people set to speak to them during the ceremonies.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, will be the university-wide commencement speaker. Once named to Time magazine’s 100 most influential people and the Financial Times’ Person of the Year for 2014, Cook joined Apple in 1998. He served as the company’s chief operating officer before being named Steve Jobs’ successor as CEO. Cook earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Auburn University and an MBA from Duke University, where he was a Fuqua Scholar. Continue reading…
