LBS MBA Creates Weather Prediction Tool for African Farmers
London Business School’s (LBS) MBA program is home to various launch points for social impact ventures, in particular through the Global Social Venture Competition.
MBA student Tom Vanneste participated in last year’s competition with his venture Kukua, which provides rural farmers in Africa with a weather prediction tool.
Scheller Hosts Semifinals for Social Venture Competition
Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business hosted the semifinal round– for the eastern U.S. region– of the Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC) on February 27.
The GSVC is an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs a chance for exposure, mentoring and $50,000 in prizes. It was founded in 1999 by MBA students at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. The competition is open to business schools all across the world. In 2014 the organization received 600 submissions from nearly 40 countries. This year, of the 21 teams that reached the semifinal round four were from Georgia Tech. Each year, GSVC culminates with the Global Finals and Conference at Berkeley in April where teams gather from around the world for a day of networking. Continue reading…
