HBS Selects Intuit Cofounder as Class Day Speaker

Harvard Business School has selected alumnus Scott Cook, cofounder and chairman of the executive committee of Intuit Inc., as the 2015 Class Day key note speaker. The 2015 Class Day will be held May 27, the day before the HBS commencement. The Class Day ceremony will take place on the Baker Lawn on the School’s campus in Boston and will also include a welcome from the co-presidents of the MBA Class of 2015, the presentation of faculty teaching awards and a student address.

Intuit Inc. is a pioneering financial software firm that is the cloud and mobile leader. Cook created a basic and intuitive software that would help people pay their bills after his wife expressed her frustration with keeping track of family finances. He cofounded Intuit in 1983. The company’s first product, Quicken, became a huge success as the result of a winning combination of revolutionary and easy-to-use software as well as constant attention to the needs of the customer, including information and service.

HBS Holds Military Prospective Students Webinar

The Harvard Business School will be hosting a Military Prospective Student Webinar. The webinar will be held March 25 from 4 to 5 p.m. During the webinar, prospective students will have the opportunity to get an overview of the military community at HBS and hear from current students from the Armed Forces Alumni Association through a Q&A panel discussion. Those interested in participating in the webinar can complete a registration form online.

Harvard Business School provides student veterans with substantial support for tuition and other expenses every year through scholarship and government funds. For 2014-2015 Academic Year, the school has awarded over $1.77 million to US military veterans attending the MBA program.  As part of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, HBS contributes up to $12,000 for each eligible service member (capped at 60 students), matched dollar-for-dollar by the US Department of Veterans Affairs. The school also participates in the Yellow Ribbon program.

HBS Holds MBA Information Session

The Boston University Graduate School of Management will be hosting an information session for its MBA programs. The information session event is for both the two-year full-time MBA and professional evening MBA programs. The information session will be held March 9 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Boston University campus.

During the event, prospective students will have the opportunity to learn more about the programs and admissions process, as well as have any questions about the program answered by a current student or an alumni. The information session is open to all prospective students. Registration for the event is not required.

HBS Holds 2+2 Program Information Session

Harvard Business School will be hosting an upcoming information session for its 2+2 program This information session will be held at Caltech on Feb. 24 from 4 to 5 p.m. This information session will provide prospective students with information on the program and the necessary information needed to complete an application for the 2+2 program.

The 2+2 program is a two year deferred admission program offered to both college seniors and those currently in their final year of a masters program. The program is comprised of two years of professional work experience followed by two years of schooling in the HBS MBA Program. Ager graduation, students admitted to the 2+2 program will spend two years working in a professional, Harvard Business School approved position in the public, private, or nonprofit sector. The 2+2 Program is designed for accomplished students from all fields of study.

HBS Holds LGBT Open House Event

Harvard Business School and the Lesbian, Gay Bisexual and Transgender Student Association at Harvard have joined together to host the LGBT Open House. The event will be held Feb. 9. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This Open House event will give prospective students an opportunity to meet and speak with current students and members of the MBA admissions team as well as visit a class and tour the campus.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Student Association is a group of LGBT students, partners and straight allies at Harvard University. Harvard strives to maintain a supportive environment for LGBT students in the classroom, in corporate recruiting and on campus. The school also strives to increase awareness and understanding of LGBT issues at HBS and in the business community through events on and off campus.
