Harvard Offers New Executive Education Program

Harvard Business School will now be offering a new executive education program titled, Senior Executive Leadership Program- India. The program will focus on the growing economy of India and the skills and knowledge that senior executives will need to be successful in the global environment. The program is taught across a series of modules in Boston at the Harvard campus as well as in Mumbai. The program will run from July 2016 to June 2017. Students will participate in online learning components through the HBX Live Virtual Classroom in between the modules.

The program’s curriculum will help executives to expand their leadership skills. Program participants meet in four modules- two in Boston and two in Mumbai. The first modules, held in Boston will focus on how leaders must look at their business critically and how create a solid business strategy in a global business environment. Students will cover strategy, leadership, innovation and globalization. In the second module, held at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai, will focus on competing in a global environment, how to create customer value and competitive advantages.

D’Amore-McKim Collabs with Cornell for India Economy Conference

The Center for Emerging Markets at the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University has collaborated with the Emerging Markets Institute at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University to host a conference on the “Modi-fication of the Indian Economy.” The conference will be held as part of the EMI Fifth Annual International Conference. The event will be held at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University  on Oct. 13. The conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature a panel discussion on the economic development of India’s economy. The economy has been growing substantially and the government has also aided in the development of the country through several new initiatives and programs. The panel discussion will focus on the opportunities that business will have for development in India over the next year as well as the foreign venture capital and development and innovation opportunities for investors.

London Business School Enjoys Large Donations from Middle East

London Business School’s global scholarship program recently enjoyed donations totalling £600,000 from their alumni community and regional business leaders in the Middle East, according to a press release from the school. The donations, which included four six-figure gifts, were raised as part of a fundraising campaign aiming to reach £100 million. The donations will largely be used to support the school’s scholarship programs as well as finance the school’s research program. Continue reading…

Wharton Indian Economic Forum to Take Place in India and Philadelphia

The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania has announced that it will hold its annual India-focused conference next year in India for the first time. The Wharton India Economic Forum (WIEF), which is marking its 20th anniversary, has historically been held on Wharton’s Philadelphia campus. The 2016 conference will be held both in Mumbai and Philadelphia. The main goal of the conference is to bring together industry leaders, investors, government leaders and Wharton professors to discuss specific challenges facing the Indian economy and Indian businesses. 8th Oxford India Business Forum Held in Mumbai

The 8th Oxford India Business Forum was held on December 9th in Mumbai, focusing on the theme of Responsible Business – an area that is being championed across research, events, teaching and student and alumni initiatives at Saïd Business School. Representatives from various Indian professional sectors jointly explored what responsibility means, the role of business in economies and society, and how that role will be defined under the new government and recent legislation.

In his opening keynote, UK Sinha (Chairman, SEBI) explained the role regulators already play in India by insisting on explicit policies and practices covering shareholder democracy, transparency, and minority protection structures. The main role, he asserted, has to be played by corporations building a culture of responsible business from within.

Oxford MBA Students Complete International Strategic Consulting Projects

MBA students from Saïd Business School recently completed their strategic consulting projects (SCPs) for 29 organizations in 16 countries around the world, including Tanzania, Qatar, Italy, the US, Zambia and India.

Each year, small teams of MBA students complete a challenging eight-week-long project for a sponsoring organisation, applying their learning to specific issues or business opportunities identified by the company. The SCPs are located in a broad range of sectors and the nature of the briefs is equally diverse. This year’s projects included improving the delivery of financial services to rural Ethiopians, analysing the ways in which technology could improve healthcare delivery in India, and studying the feasibility of a UK spaceport.
