D’Amore-McKim Offers MS in Innovation
The D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University offers students the opportunity to pursue a career in innovation through its Masters of Science in Innovation program. The MS in Innovation program is a one-year specialized masters program that is aimed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to move in to leadership roles in the future. Students in the program will learn the fundamentals of innovation in business through class projects, case studies and real-world application at their own organization.
The MS in Innovation program at D’Amore-McKim is a part-time program that was designed for working professionals. Students spend an intensive year focusing on technology and entrepreneurship through courses that are tailored to innovation in a corporate setting and business innovation. Students in the program will learn to identify business opportunities and how to work within and out of their corporation to maximize their potential as leaders.
Loyola Marymount EMBAs Study Innovation
EMBA students from Loyola Marymount University recently returned from their annual week-long trip to study innovation in Silicon Valley and Sacramento, according to a press release from the school. Haas Names New Executive Fellow
Haas School of Business has recently named Debby Hopkins as a new Executive Fellow, according to a press release from the school. Hopkins is Citi’s Chief Innovation Officer and CEO of Citi Ventures. Haas created their Executive Fellowship in 2007 so that respected businesspersons could advise the dean, faculty, and staff as well as give Haas students a chance to see their expertise and trailblazing ideas. Haas MBAs Work With Fellows to Drive Innovation
Three MBA candidates at the Haas School of Business were recently given the opportunity to work with Gunso Kim, secretary general of the World eGovernment Organization of Cities and Local Governments, to try and develop a ride-sharing app like Uber or Lyft that would function in Seoul, South Korea. The project was highlighted in a recent press release from Haas looking at the fellows appointed by the Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation, of whom Kim is one. The Garwood Center promotes the open innovation idea that organizations should look both internally and externally to optimize innovation. Cambridge Judge Study Highlights Importance of Innovation in R&D Spending
A new study published at Cambridge Judge’s Centre for Business Research says that a renewed focus on innovative research and development spending by major UK departments would create new export-oriented industries and help re-balance the economy.
In past decades, many vibrant UK technology industries including semiconductors emerged from R&D spending at the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and other departments, and future R&D spending should seek to recreate such a pipeline of innovation, says the 65-page report, entitled “Creating markets for things that don’t exist”.

London Business School Study Highlights Strength of British Business
Business leaders overwhelmingly believe that Britain has been great for business in the last 50 years.
In a poll of more than 300 senior executives conducted by London Business School, 89% said that Britain has been great for business. More than half (57%) think Britain has become more innovative over the last five decades.
In the last 50 years Britain has seen boom and bust. And, despite 51% of business leaders believing uncontrolled risk-taking was the main cause of the financial crisis, we can still stomach risk. When asked about their personal attitude to risk, an overwhelming majority of business leaders (83%) still agree that measured risk-taking is an important part of business.
