The Economist has revealed its annual ranking of the top full-time MBA Programs in the world. This year, five London schools made it onto the list, with three schools landing in the top 50.

Cambridge Judge Scholar Addresses Shareholder Activism

A paper co-authored at Cambridge Judge finds that institutional shareholders recall shares to oppose management in proxy votes.

The article, entitled “The role of institutional investors in voting: evidence from the securities lending market”, was named best paper this month in the Global Challenge for Innovation in Corporate Governance by investment management firm BlackRock and the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) in the US.

The research was co-authored by Pedro Saffi, University Lecturer in Finance at Cambridge Judge, and it breaks new ground in showing how institutional investors influence the proxy voting process through share recall. The paper will be published in a forthcoming issue of Journal of Finance.

Judge Business School Alum Talks About Arcus Global

Denis Kaminskiy (Judge Business School MBA , 2008) is passionate about disrupting public sector computer services and saving the taxpayer a pile of money in the process.

It wasn’t so long ago that Kaminskiy and his colleague, Lars Malmquist, were facing up to two of the biggest tech giants in the business. As part of their MBA, Kaminskiy and Malmquist undertook a piece of research on cloud computing for BT and Hewlett Packard. “We put it to them that this was a technology revolution, and they should be on top of it,” says Kaminskiy. “They didn’t agree. We reasoned that if the big guys weren’t going to do anything about it, we should do it ourselves.”

Judge Joins European MBA Panel and Q&A Event

Judge Business School - University of Cambridge

Judge Business School will be participating in a European MBA Panel and Q&A session in Berlin. Judge will join a few other top schools in Europe to discuss why you should study for an MBA in Europe. The event will be held March 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the European School of Management and Technology, Berlin. The event is open to anyone who is interested in pursuing a MBA degree. There will be a networking cocktail reception held proceeding the panel discussion and Q&A session.

Including Judge and European School of Management and Technology, there will be four schools participating in this panel discussion. The other two schools that will be represented are the Rotterdam School of Management and the SDA Bocconi School of Management. During the Q&A part of the event, prospective student will have the opportunity to ask about the MBA programs at the schools as well as international requirements and the benefits of completing the MBA in Europe. Judge Report Claims European Alternative Finance Market Could Top €7b in 2015

The European online alternative finance market grew by 144% last year to nearly €3 billion and could top €7 billion in 2015, according to a report by the new Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance at University of Cambridge Judge Business School and professional services organisation EY.

The report, Moving Mainstream: The European Alternative Finance Benchmarking Report, includes input from 14 key national or regional industry associations, as well as 255 leading platforms in Europe, to capture an estimated 85 per cent 90 per cent of Europe’s online platform-based alternative finance market. While previous studies have charted alternative finance in the UK, this report is the first to cover other European countries in detail.

Five Cambridge MBA Teams Advance to Regional Finals of Hult Prize

Five Cambridge Judge Business School MBA teams have emerged from more than 20,000 applications to continue in pursuit of a $1 million development challenge.

The annual Hult Prize Challenge is the world’s largest student competition and a start-up platform for social good. In partnership with former President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Global Initiative, the crowdsourcing platform identifies and launches catalytic social ventures that aim to solve the planet’s most pressing challenges. Student teams compete in five cities around the world for the chance to secure $1 million in start-up funding to launch a sustainable social venture.
