LeBow Holds Information Events
The LeBow College of Business at Drexel University will be hosting three upcoming MBA information events. The information events will cover all MBA programs offered at LeBow. All of the events are free to attend.
The first event will be a one on one information session. This event is designed for individuals who are already familiar with LeBow College of Business. The one-on-one information sessions give prospective students the opportunity to participate in an individualized question and answer session with an admissions counselor. This event will be held Dec. 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Drexel University campus.Walk ins for this event are welcome but reservations for a 30 minute spot is preferred to ensure that there is time for a meeting.
LeBow Students Begin Customized MBA Program
Almost three-dozen LeBow College of Business students have begun a customized two-year MBA program. These students were selected by Vanguard, one of the world’s largest investment management companies, to attend the program. Students joined several Vanguard employees in this customized program.
Drexel LeBow is delivering the course at the business college’s campus in Malvern. The program began with a four-day residency at which Vanguard chairman and CEO Bill McNabb welcomed the students and described why the investment firm chose Drexel’s LeBow College of Business Corporate and Executive Education to provide the customized MBA program.
CEOs Discuss Social Responsibility at LeBow
A group of almost 20 C-level leaders from regional companies gathered at Drexel LeBow College of Business for a conversation about the value (or lack thereof) of corporate social responsibility efforts. The event was a confidential, invitation-only event for shareholders, customers and employees.
The session was co-hosted by Jeff Westphal, president and CEO of Vertex Inc., and LeBow’s Center for Corporate Reputation Management. Westphal has made corporate social responsibility and community outreach a central part of his company’s business plan. The company also supports other causes, including Breastcancer.org and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Lebow Student Receives AICPA Scholarship
Lebow College of Business junior accounting and finance major Andres Vivas Lopez has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the American Institute of CPAs. He accepted this award onstage at ALPFA’s national convention in Orlando, Fla.
Lopez serves as the president of LeBow’s ALPFA chapter. KPMG sponsored four LeBow students to attend the event, which included a case competition.
He is a recent transfer student from Community College of Philadelphia. Currently, Lopez is doing his first of two co-ops at Grant Thornton, working within the firm’s business advisory services department. Part of his job there requires him to serve as a liaison for audit projects in Latin America.
LeBow Featured in Fortune Mag. Story
Fortune Magazine featured Drexel University and LeBow College of Business in a story about the success of college co-op programs. The story discusses the advantages that students who attend universities with a co-op program have in the job market after graduation.
