Graziadio School Professor Writes on Achievement of Respect over Likability
Dr. Bernice Ledbetter of Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management recently wrote a piece for the Huffington Post which addressed the idea of respect vs. likability in the world of business.
Ledbetter teaches Organizational Theory and Management at Graziadio. She writes, “I’ve learned the hard way that being well liked doesn’t mean that others will adopt your point of view or vision. Being respected is the key.” The article focuses on gaining the support of key stakeholders when trying to instate new ideas, concepts or practical changes in the workplace.
McMaster Establishes New Leadership Awards Alongside the Wilson Foundation

Leavey School Prof and Alum Named Top Innovators
A Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business professor, as well as an alumnus, were recently named to Inc. Magazine’s Top 50 Leadership Innovators.
Nilofer Merchant, MBA ’00, and Barry Posner, Accoliti Professor of Leadership, were each honored for their accomplishments and were described as “innovators doing remarkable work, and making a real difference.”
Drucker School Announces Fellowships for Tech, Creative Industries Degrees, Among Others
The Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University recently announced the extension and creation of 10 fellowships that will total more than $500,000 per year.
The students who will benefit are from various programs, including technology, financial engineering, the creative industries and management. The awards will cover up to 100 percent of tuition costs for full-time students in these programs.
Penn State Smeal MBAs Win Big in Sustainability Competition
A team of six Penn State University Smeal College of Business students recently received an award in the school’s MBA Sustainability Case Competition, which took place on the University Park campus.
Smeal has a seven-year history of integrating sustainability concepts into its MBA curriculum. The case competition is one aspect of these teaching initiatives.
