Mark Cuban offers up to $500,000 to Booth MBA For Inflatable Lights Startup On Shark Tank

Chicago Booth MBA student Andrea Sreshta and her business partner Anna Stork appeared television’s “Shark Tank” to seek funding for their inflatable solar-powered light startup, LuminAID. The group received offers from all five investors, including entrepreneur and billionaire Mark Cuban, who made the winning bid. Cuban offered $200,000 for a 15 percent stake in LuminAID, plus an option to lead the next round of investing with $300,000. Continue reading…

Sellinger School Names Getz as Newest Dean

Loyola University Maryland is happy to name Kathleen A. Getz, Ph.D., as the next dean of the Sellinger School of Business and Management. She will assume her new role at Loyola this summer, starting on July 1, 2015.

“Dr. Getz has brought visionary and strategic leadership to her role at Loyola University Chicago, where she raised money for a new building and secured a naming gift for the school. She also refocused the strategic plan for the Quinlan School of Business to promote leadership areas in family business, international business and emerging markets, risk management, social enterprise and responsibility, and supply chain management,” said Amy R. Simmons Holds BSBA/MBA Info Session

The Simmons School of Management will be hosting an information session for prospective undergraduate business students. This information session is for the BSBA/MBA program at Simmons. The event will be held March 26 at 5 p.m. The information session is for current Simmons College students that are intersted in jump starting their MBA while completing their undergraduate degree. Those intersted in attending the event can complete an event registration form online.

The benefits of completing the BSBA to MBA program at Simmons are that the program will save you money by allowing you to compete the MBA degree in an accelerated time frame, give you an opportunity to expand your network outside of your unicer graduate degree and give you more career opportunities after graduating with only the undergraduate degree. The program is offered in both part-time and full-time options with flexible scheduling.

New Contributions Double Booth’s New Venture Capital Challenge Award

University of Chicago Booth School of Business students competing in the school’s annual New Venture Challenge (NVC) will be vying for $250,000 in funding after the Pritzker Group and the University of Chicago Innovation Fund donated additional funds to the entrepreneurship program.

“We are excited to offer these additional resources to our aspiring entrepreneurs,” said Ellen Rudnick, executive director of the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. “This more than doubles last year’s funding awards.” Continue reading…

CSULB Daytime Accelerated MBA App Deadline April 15

The application deadline for the California State University, Long Beach Daytime Accelerated MBA program is April 15. Applications for the program are open now. The application form is available to prospective students conveniently online. International Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The application deadline for scholarships for CSULB is March 12.

Students in the Daytime Accelerated MBA at CSULB can earn an MBA degree in a little more than one year. The program consists of five ten-week sessions. During the sessions, students attend classes full-time, Monday through Thursday and generally complete three classes per session. This demanding program is offered as a lockstep cohort format with 25 to 35 students in the cohort. The program begins the first Monday in July.

Judge Joins European MBA Panel and Q&A Event

Judge Business School - University of Cambridge

Judge Business School will be participating in a European MBA Panel and Q&A session in Berlin. Judge will join a few other top schools in Europe to discuss why you should study for an MBA in Europe. The event will be held March 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the European School of Management and Technology, Berlin. The event is open to anyone who is interested in pursuing a MBA degree. There will be a networking cocktail reception held proceeding the panel discussion and Q&A session.

Including Judge and European School of Management and Technology, there will be four schools participating in this panel discussion. The other two schools that will be represented are the Rotterdam School of Management and the SDA Bocconi School of Management. During the Q&A part of the event, prospective student will have the opportunity to ask about the MBA programs at the schools as well as international requirements and the benefits of completing the MBA in Europe.
