Anderson Applications Increase By 32 Percent
UCLA’s Anderson School of Management revealed that applications to the school’s full-time MBA program rose by 32 percent for the 2013-2014 admissions cycle.
The unusual increase, in a year when application volume at many schools either flat or slightly down, means that MBA applications at Anderson have raised by more than 60 percent in the past four years. The latest increase follows a seven percent decline in the year-earlier after a 22 percent gain the prior year.
The school attributes the increase to a variety of factors. Some of which include a reduction of the number of essays and letters of recommendation required to apply as well as increased recruiting efforts that have led to deeper engagement by applicants. Continue reading…
A Military Officer’s Time on GWBU’s GMBA Program
Martin Nossett, 2nd year George Washington University School of Business Global MBA student, had eleven years of active duty service in the U.S. Coast Guard before signing on for a new tour of duty—his MBA.
“In addition [to my active duty service,” I spent the four-year prior to that as a cadet at a military academy. To sum it up, I was institutionalized,” Nossett said.

GMU MBA Wins Scholarship, Gets Invited to Mindshare Network
Chris Plourde, George Mason School of Management MBA, was recently awarded the newly established Pete Bianco Scholarship. The scholarship allows for one MBA to participate in MindShare, an exclusive, invitation-only program comprised of CEOs of Washington, D.C. area companies.
As a MindShare participant, Plourde will gain access to the 700 entrepreneurs in the Washington, D.C. area who are alumni of and currently comprise the MindShare network. Babson College Recognizes Outstanding Students and Alumni with Changemaker Awards
Since 2011, the Lewis Institute’s Changemaker Awards have recognized Babson students and staff who exemplify remarkable effort to create a positive change within the community and in the world. Two of recipients of this year’s Changemaker Awards are Two of this year’s honorees are from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College; Mayank Arora M’15, and the institute’s first ever alumni award was given to Jon Feinman M’10.
Arora is a first-year MBA student, who will participate in MBAxAmerica this summer. This new, six-week program designed for MBA students from the nation’s top business schools incorporates cross-country travel where students participate in six business challenges with innovative entrepreneurs. He serves as the Vice President of Operations for the Babson Energy & Environmental Club. Hofstra’s Zarb School of Business Launches Accelerated MBA Program in Manhattan
The Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University announced the launch of an accelerated MBA program in Manhattan designed for the working professional that can be completed in less than three years.
The MBA in strategic business management is a 41-48 credit hybrid program combining online and on-site classes that will be located in the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital on East 64th Street, between 2nd and 3rd avenues. The first cohort, which has 25 slots available, will begin September 2014.
To introduce the Manhattan program, the Zarb School is sponsoring a series of free lectures on self-branding for career growth featuring Dr. Joel Evans, the RMI Distinguished Professor of Business and a professor of marketing and international business, on April 22 in Manhattan and April 30 in Melville, Long Island.
