George Mason Accounting Professor Receives Innovation Award
According to a news release on the George Mason School of Business website, Kelly Wentland received the 2015 Doctoral Dissertation Award for Innovation in Accounting Education from the American Accounting Association and Grant Thornton. Wentland is one of the school’s newest accounting professors. Wentland is currently pursuing her PhD at the School of Business, which qualified her for this award. Her research explored industrial diversification in terms of firm taxation.
“People have examined diversified firms before, but primarily considering tax benefits due to the firm’s diversification geographically,” Wentland said in the news release. “This is the first time we are looking at diversification on an alternate dimension.” Continue reading…
Forbes Ranks Kogod No. 65 in List of Best Full-Time MBA Programs
American University’s Kogod School of Business has been ranked Number 65 in Forbes Magazine’s list of the Best Full-Time MBA Programs in the country. Forbes ranked MBA program based on their five-year return on investment through alumni surveys.
According to Forbes, 89 percent of the class of 2014 that landed jobs within three months of graduation accepted positions in the D.C. metro. 37 percent of job attaining alums went into consulting, followed by 16 percent of students who went into financial services. Continue reading…
Johns Hopkins Ranked 10th in National Universities Rankings
In the latest U.S. News & World Report “National Universities” rankings, Johns Hopkins University, home of the Carey Business School, climbed two spots, from No. 12 to a tie for 10th, which is up from 12th last year and 16th as recently as 2006. Continue reading…

$10M Gift Promises New Scholarships at Robert H. Smith School of Business
The University of Maryland announced today a gift of $10 million from the Robert H. Smith Family Foundation to support MBA scholarships, as well as undergraduate leadership programs and facility enhancements for the Robert H. Smith School of Business.
