Leavey to Host Boomer Venture Summit Competition

Leavey School of Business will be holding the 2015 Silicon Valley Boomer Venture Summit Business Competition on June 30 in the Recital Hall at Santa Clara University, according to a press release from the school.

The event has been put on every year since 2004 by Mary Furlong and Associates so that entrepreneurs, leaders in the aging field, and the venture community can come together to create a forum to explore, share, and design products that might dominate the boomer market in the years to come. Mary Furlong is also an Executive Professor of Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University. Norman Lear, famed producer, creator, and scriptwriter, will be delivering the keynote speech at the event. Food Startups Make Big Showing at UC Davis Business Competition

UC Davis recently held the Big Bang! Business Competition final and award ceremony at the UC Davis Conference Center, according to a press release from the school. Contestants pitched their companies to the audience before the awards were distributed at the event. Food-centric startups made a strong showing at the competition, with first and second prize going to startups focused on food as well as a number of other bonus prizes. Continue reading…
