BC Launches Shea Center for Entrepreneurship
Boston College launched the Edmund H. Shea Jr. Center for Entrepreneurship on August 31. The center, named after the major donor and founder of California-based home building Shea Homes, will work to help integrate entrepreneurial thinking into the educational and formational experience of both undergraduate and graduate students throughout Boston College. BC will hold an official opening event for the center in November. The key note speaker for the opening event will be Philip Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple, Inc. and BC alumnus.
Jere Doyle, a seasoned entrepreneur, will serve as the center’s inaugural executive director. Doyle has built two start-up companies, Prospectiv and Global Marketing, before founding Doyle Enterprises, a firm that supports start-ups throughout the world. The center, which is part of the Carroll School of Management at BC, will also take an interdisciplinary focus, and allow students in each of the University’s eight schools and colleges to participate in its programs.
Loyola Marymount EMBAs Study Innovation
EMBA students from Loyola Marymount University recently returned from their annual week-long trip to study innovation in Silicon Valley and Sacramento, according to a press release from the school. LBS Sloan Fellows Visit California
54 Sloan Fellows from London Business School recently returned from a week-long journey to California known as ‘SloanFEST,’ according to a press release from the school. The Sloan Fellows program is a master’s degree in general management and leadership originally supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation at LBS, MIT Sloan School of Management, and Stanford Graduate School of Business. It is designed for people who have demonstrated success either as entrepreneurs or within organizations. Alumni Profile: Rohan Shah, Kogod MBA ’09
Rohan Shah, an alum from American University’s Kogod School of Business, gained great interest in green energy and sustainability while earning his MBA. Through his studies and experiences he deduced that it’s not possible to have a growing economy without growing resources.

Vietnamese Delegates Visit Leavey to Explore Tech Possibilities
A group of delegates from Vietnam visited Leavey School of Business in order so they might better understand business practices in Silicon Valley, according to a press release from the school. Juan P. Montermoso, Professor of Practice, hosted the group during their visit due to his first-hand knowledge of Silicon Valley. Montermoso previously worked for Hewlett-Packard for 27 years before teaching at Leavey and is also currently the president of Montermoso Associates, a high-tech consultancy that focuses on helping organizations reach and retain their most profitable clients.
