Smeal Launches New Supply Chain Leadership Academy
The Smeal College of Business at Penn State University has launched a new supply chain program, The Supply Chain Leadership Academy, an online bootcamp designed to help supply chain leaders apply leadership concepts in holistic supply chain management. The program was created in partnership with CorpU, a corporate learning pioneer.
The program is taught through a three-pronged approach. It draws on best practices in situation based learning to refine student competencies and drive organizational improvement through end-to-end supply chain management. Program participants will complete three five-week courses that focus on end-to-end supply chain excellence, integrated supply networks and supply chain leadership.
Academic Society Names Bauer Professor as New President
The academic society The Decision Science Institute recently named a new president, Funda Sahin, an associate professor in the Department of Decision & Information Sciences (DISC) at University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business. DePaul Business Certificates Help Take Degrees Further
DePaul University’s Management Development Center (MDC) is introducing three new graduate-level business certificate programs for executives, business leaders, functional managers and growth-minded employees who would like to make a career change or brush off and improve skills.
According to a post on the Kellstadt School of Business website, “business certificate programs have been gaining in popularity in recent years and for good reason.” While MBA degrees provide intensive general business education, business certificate programs offer education that targets a single skill or proficiency. Scheller Announces New Supply Chain Program
Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business announced in a recent press release that it will be launching a consortium-based Supply Chain Leader Development program in early spring. The new program is focused on helping corporate clients manage and develop their supply chains. The program’s academic director is Operations Management Professor Soumen Ghosh, who is faculty director of non-degree and custom programs for Scheller’s Huang Executive Education Center.
The Huang Executive Education Center, where the program will be held, has hosted similar programs for individual companies in the past. Ghosh told Scheller’s news blog that this was one of the reasons for developing the program. “As other companies have discovered what we offer, they’ve wanted to have similar opportunities, so we developed this new program,” Ghosh said. Rutgers Alum Returns for SCM Meet & Greet
Rutgers Business School alumnus Valerie Linteau, who majored in Supply Chain Management, returned to Rutgers on September 17, 2014 for the Supply Chain Management Meet & Greet and look for more Rutgers talent. She returned as a career employee of Kuehne + Nagel to represent the company.
The event is cosponsored by the Department of Supply Chain Management & Marketing Sciences, and Career Services, Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick.
