Leavey Introduces Two New Programs

Scheller Announces New Supply Chain Program
Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business announced in a recent press release that it will be launching a consortium-based Supply Chain Leader Development program in early spring. The new program is focused on helping corporate clients manage and develop their supply chains. The program’s academic director is Operations Management Professor Soumen Ghosh, who is faculty director of non-degree and custom programs for Scheller’s Huang Executive Education Center.
The Huang Executive Education Center, where the program will be held, has hosted similar programs for individual companies in the past. Ghosh told Scheller’s news blog that this was one of the reasons for developing the program. “As other companies have discovered what we offer, they’ve wanted to have similar opportunities, so we developed this new program,” Ghosh said. Smeal Students Study SCM in Italy
Over the summer, 23 Penn State Smeal College of Business students spent six weeks in Florence, Italy, studying supply chain and management from an Italian perspective. The students studied with Norm Aggon, assistant department chair and instructor in operations and supply chain management and Ron Johnson, senior instructor in management and organization.
The course was called, “Extreme Global Makeover: Integrating Supply Chain Applications, Managerial Skills, and Italian Culture for Personal Success.” The course provided students an opportunity to visit four different Italian companies and learn to assess their manufacturing operations in terms of supply chain management and sustainability.
Marshall Hosts 2nd Annual Global Supply Chain Excellence Summit
Marshall School of Business will hold its 2nd Annual Global Supply Chain Excellence Summit on Friday, September 26, 2014. The event will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the USC Davidson Center.
The event will feature speakers on Macro and Micro Trend Analysis of Global Supply Chain, breakout sessions on emerging markets (Latin America, ASEAN FTA, India – Sub Continent), Global Industry Player Showcase, a Roundtable discussion with disruptive Technology and Impact on Global Supply Chain and an Industry Recognition and Excellence Award ceremony.
Participants will gain exclusive insight in the current opportunities and impediments in the field of supply chain, as well as the opportunity to learn from, and connect with, the people that keep the world moving.
