Inside the Career Treks at McCombs
An MBA program that spends all of its time and effort only in the classroom is one that may leave its students at a disadvantage. The truth is that it’s the hands-on and out-of-class experiences that make the biggest impression on MBAs, and that’s exactly why McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin takes their MBA students on career treks every year.
These treks, led by the Texas MBA Career and Management team, take MBAs to various cities and companies around the nation for a unique learning opportunity. During each trek, MBA students learn more in-depth information about their favorite industries and corporations through presentations, Q&A sessions and networking opportunities. Booth’s New Venture Challenge Given Accolades at SXSW
Booth School of Business’ New Venture Challenge (NVC) was named as a top accelerator program in the country at South by Southwest, according to a press release on the business school’s website. Run by the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Chicago Booth, the program was ranked fourth in research released by the Seed Accelerator Rankings Program, which aims to begin a larger conversation about what makes seed accelerators successful and provide entrepreneurs with a tool to help them decide which seed accelerators are a good match for their startup. Seton Hall to Host SXSW Startup Competition
Seton Hall University has been selected to be a host for the South by Southwest Student Startup Madness Competition. Seton Hall has been selected as one of 16 expected collegiate hosts in eight regions for the competition. The final competition takes place in Austin, Texas.
The Student Startup Madness Competition is a nationwide tournament-style competition for college student digital media startups, culminating with the “Entrepreneurial Eight” national finals at South By Southwest (SXSW) Interactive. The first and regional rounds of the competition are conducted online, beginning with a selected field of 64 teams, narrowing to 32 semi-finalists and ending with the announcement of the “Entrepreneurial Eight” finalists in January.
