Davis Student Shares Experience at Mars Symposium
UC Davis School of Management MBA student Jennifer Hebets shared her experience at the Mars Symposium held at UC Davis Jan. 14, 2015. The UC Davis Innovation Institute for Food and Health was launched during this symposium. The symposium was jointly organized with Davis and Mars, Incorporated in collaboration with the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
The Innovation Institute for Food and Health was announced in September 2014. The idea was supported by a pledge of $40 million from Mars and $20 million from UC Davis over 10 years. The institute will advance new discoveries in sustainable food, agriculture and health, not just in the laboratory but, at all steps along the way to commercial use.
Anderson Holds FT MBA Info Session
The Office of MBA Admissions at UCLA Anderson School of Management will be hosting an information session for its Full-Time MBA program. The event will be held Jan. 21 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Anderson School of Management campus. During the event, prospective student can get more information on the program’s curriculum, the admission process and student life at Anderson.
Anderson MBA students range from 22 to 42 in age with the average age of students being 29. The average work experience of each student is five years, with 63 percent of students having between three and six years of work experience.
Cal. State LA Holds MBA Info Session
The College of Business and Economics at Cal. State Los Angeles will be holding a MBA information session. The event will be held Jan. 22, 2015. It will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Student Services Center at the Cal. State LA campus.
The College of Business and Economics at Cal State L.A. is a learning community of 67 full-time faculty and staff and more than 3,200 students dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in undergraduate and graduate education for a multicultural, global environment.
Haas Raises Over $500,000
Berkeley held its first 24-hour campus-wide online fundraiser. The event, held Nov. 20, was the biggest single-day fundraiser in Haas School of Business History. During The Big Give event, Haas raised about $561,000 from 651 donors. Haas also won a special $1,500 prize during the competition for having the most student donors.
The total of Big Give donations across the entire university reached $5.3 million. UC Berkeley organized the Big Give to reach out to its 450,000 alumni worldwide, and bring those alumni, students, Cal parents and friends together for a day of giving.
Davis Holds Information Luncheon
UC Davis Graduate School of Management will be holding an information event for prospective applicants. The event will offer lunch with admissions committee members. This lunch event will be held Dec. 3, 2014 from noon to 1 p.m.
During the event, prospective students will have the opportunity to ask questions about the Full-Time and Part-Time MBA programs, learn tips on writing an effective admissions essays, how to craft a competitive application and other questions that are important to you.
Haas Team Wins 2nd Place at Brand Mgmt Comp.
A team of Haas School of Business MBA students received second place at the 2014 Elite Eight Brand Management Case Competition. The team created a marketing plan for a medical device aimed at adults with spinal cord injuries. The three-day, invite-only competition is hosted by the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
The Elite Eight Brand Management Case Competition brings together top brand management students, professionals and academics from across the country for a three-day competition highlighting the challenges facing brand managers in today’s competitive marketplace. The Challenge involves eight student teams, who are presented with a strategic brand management challenge currently faced by a partner company. The teams are given 30 hours to prepare a structured case analysis and accompanying recommendations.
