Marshall Breaks Ground on New Business Building
USC Marshall School of Business broke ground on Jill and Frank Fertitta Hall, a visionary new building that will transform the experience of its business undergraduates. The groundbreaking occurred September 19, 2014.
The building is scheduled to open by fall 2016. Fertitta Hall will foster collaborative and technology-enabled learning, featuring state-of-the-art classrooms and expanded student areas to boost the production of cutting-edge knowledge and enhance the education of future innovators in business.

Marshall Selected as Critical Partner at Expo Milano
USC Marshall School of Business has been selected as a critical partner in shaping the U.S. presence at Expo Milano 2015, the latest incarnation of the historic world’s fair.
On target to open its doors next May, Expo Milano, built around the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,” will offer countries around the world an opportunity to showcase their strengths and capture their national spirit as they tackle one of the most pressing issues of our time: hunger and food insecurity.
For the second consecutive Expo, Friends of the USA Pavilion Milano 2015 has tapped USC Marshall to lead recruitment and training of its student ambassadors, a pivotal role in ensuring the pavilion’s success.
Marshall Hosts 2nd Annual Global Supply Chain Excellence Summit
Marshall School of Business will hold its 2nd Annual Global Supply Chain Excellence Summit on Friday, September 26, 2014. The event will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the USC Davidson Center.
The event will feature speakers on Macro and Micro Trend Analysis of Global Supply Chain, breakout sessions on emerging markets (Latin America, ASEAN FTA, India – Sub Continent), Global Industry Player Showcase, a Roundtable discussion with disruptive Technology and Impact on Global Supply Chain and an Industry Recognition and Excellence Award ceremony.
Participants will gain exclusive insight in the current opportunities and impediments in the field of supply chain, as well as the opportunity to learn from, and connect with, the people that keep the world moving. Marshall Alum Appointed Director of FIM Program
Marshall School of Business alumnus Cynthia McCloud has joined the Food Industry Management Program at Marshall. McCloud is the fifth director, and the first woman, to lead the program, now in its 56th year.
“We are delighted to welcome back one of our own to lead this elite program,” said USC Marshall School of Business Dean James G. Ellis. “Future students will benefit from her experience, leadership and vision.”
McCloud was a student in the Food Industry Management Program (FIM) in 1990 and then graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in business administration from USC Marshall in 1991. She later went on to earn an MBA in 1997 from the University of California, Irvine.
USC Professor Wins Impact Award
The distinguished professor of business and founder/director of Marshall School of Business-USC‘s Center for Effective Organizations (CEO) Ed Lawler has made it his life’s work to examine the intersection of management theory and practice. When he founded the CEO in 1979, he intended to create a unique hybrid, a think tank and a research center.
Today the CEO is not only the longest running center of its kind; it is also recognized as a leading management research organization, attracting top scholars and key business partners from around the globe.
Now in its 35th year, the CEO is being recognized by the Academy of Management (AOM), the largest professional organization for management scholars and business school professors in the world, for its wide-reaching accomplishments.
