Babson Hosts Rocket Pitch Competition For Business Ideas

Before there was “Shark Tank,” there was Rocket Pitch.

The 16th installment of this Babson College pitch competition was held on Nov. 5. Rocket Pitch is open to Babson’s FW Olin School of Business students and alumni, as well as Olin College of Engineering and Wellesley College students, according to Babson’s website.

Leavey MBA Promoted to CFO

Mike Kourey, MBA alumnus of Leavey ‘86, has been promoted to CFO of Medallia, according to a press release from the school. Medallia is one of the world’s largest customer experience management companies in the world and boasts clients like Four Seasons, Sephora and Airbnb amongst others. The company was started in 2001 by consultants to Fortune 500 executives after they saw a direct correlation between customer loyalty and the commercial success of a company. Continue reading…

Cass MBA Alumnus Shares Success Story

Alberto Lopez, Cass MBA alumnus, was recently welcomed back to the school as a speaker at the “Cass Entrepreneur Stories” event to share his story, according to a press release. Lopez is the founder and CEO of alva, a company that collects and analyzes media data to help predict trends for their clients. Lopez also has the distinction of being the first recipient of the Cass Entrepreneurship Fund, a £10 million venture fund that provides those who receive it with growth equity for their new companies.

Team of McDonough MBAs Win Big at VCIC Finals

Georgetown McDonough MBAs Jordan Edelman, Eric Ellsworth, Amir Kabir, Ben Shopneck, and Coral Taylor took home the top prize at the global finals of the 2015 Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC), the school’s second title in the past three years. Seventy business schools from across the globe converged onto the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where a panel of venture capitalists judged each team based on how well they analyzed startup companies, interviewed entrepreneurs, structured a deal, and negotiated terms.
