ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: George Mason’s John Cotton Earns Executive MBA After Military Service
An article on George Mason University School of Business’ website profiled recent EMBA recipient John Cotton. The retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral and third generation military pilot earned his Executive MBA from Mason in 2015, winning the Executive MBA Outstanding Student Award in the process.
Cotton told The School of Business that he “simply never had time to get an MBA degree.” He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1973, going onto serve in the Navy in various positions and roles. Continue reading…

Forbes Ranks Kogod No. 65 in List of Best Full-Time MBA Programs
American University’s Kogod School of Business has been ranked Number 65 in Forbes Magazine’s list of the Best Full-Time MBA Programs in the country. Forbes ranked MBA program based on their five-year return on investment through alumni surveys.
According to Forbes, 89 percent of the class of 2014 that landed jobs within three months of graduation accepted positions in the D.C. metro. 37 percent of job attaining alums went into consulting, followed by 16 percent of students who went into financial services. Continue reading…
$10M Gift Promises New Scholarships at Robert H. Smith School of Business
The University of Maryland announced today a gift of $10 million from the Robert H. Smith Family Foundation to support MBA scholarships, as well as undergraduate leadership programs and facility enhancements for the Robert H. Smith School of Business. JHU Carey Launches New Health Care Management MBA Program
Most people know that the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a world-class medical school. JHU’s Carey Business School has launched a new cohort-based Health Care Management MBA degree program at DC’s Sibley Memorial Hospital that consists of employees and medical staff from Sibley and Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md.

Kogod Study Away Course Teaches International Management Practices in Cuba This Fall Semester
Now that decades-long travel ban to Cuba has been lifted, the Kogod School of Business is happy to launch a course on International Management Practices in Havana, Cuba this fall. IBUS 244 provides students the opportunity to experience the management practices and business environments of Cuban organizations. Students will participate in a half semester long pre-departure class, followed by one week of travel to Miami and Cuba during the first week of January. Continue reading…
